Job Description Summary
Responsible for activities related to the construction, building and commissioning on customer site, from site mobilization, through civil, erection and commissioning work, as well as management activities related to this scope. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Mission is to put into service the equipment Related control system, under his / her responsibility according to EHS and Quality standard and respecting the given delays. Manage the Control system team under him for the project.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Operational- Lead the group of engineers and establish commissioning activities at site.
- Plan and set up Commissioning tools etc. and ensure safety of commissioning tools..
- Establish site commissioning planning for the package and pull the fronts from erection team on time.
- Prepare erection handing over documents such as EES. Etc. along with erection Supervisors
- Execute daily (if required), weekly and monthly comprehensive commissioning reports to Commissioning manager.
- Set up the site filing and document control system for commissioning protocols
- Strategically execute the site commissioning Generator package .
- Strategically execute the GE EHS Policy and the site EHS plan
- Strategically manage the site schedule, progress of works for generator package
- Set up and strategically execute all the contractual site tests
- Develop team of engineers and train them as independent engineers for commissioning
- Take necessary actions to maintain high site morale
- Manage subcontracts / subcontractor staff.
- Coordinate with the erection team.
- Coordinate with engineering team at HO.
- Internal as well as external punch point clearance.
- Handing over the power plant equipment to client for his scope of work through CM
- Closing the site with minimum punch point.
- Possess sound knowledge of concern system commissioning of the plant.
- Handing over all the protocols and final settings to HO ( Commissioning head)
- Conduct Risk assessment for every activity and toolbox talks.
Conduct daily and weekly meetings with GE staff and subcontractors.
Managerial (Budget / Administration / People)
- The overall management and leadership of the GE site staff.
- Developing a Site Safety Culture during the site execution of the project
- Promote & develop a collaborative culture towards seamless execution of the site works between GE (erection & Commissioning), it’s sub-contractor, the customer and other contractors on site (e.g. civil works)
- Executing the package within the site installation budget.
- Achieving all Commissioning milestones within the site schedule for his systems.
- Maintaining an intensive customer relationship and a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Representation of GE to the customer and local authorities.
- Maintaining and enhancing the professional image and reputation of GE at all times.
- Develop technical skills of the self and team time to time.
Functional/transverse (optional)
- Responsible to give/ share feedback of experience to H.O
Measurement / Key Performance Indicators
Specific Functional/Technical authority (besides DoA):
- Control system commissioning major milestones achieved on time.
- All the modified logics and drawings updated to HO.
- Force signal list is cleared completely.
- Machines are performing well with desired parameters for concern package.
- All the contractual requirements and tests are met for designated package
- All the punch points are closed for Control system package
- EHS Road Map targets are achieved with zero lost time injuries or fatalities.
- Customer satisfaction survey targets are achieved.
- All required performance assessments are completed.
- All the protocols/ final data/ settings communicated to HO (Commissioning head)
- All the feedbacks are furnished to HO (Commissioning head)
- Delegate the job to commissioning engineers as per the site requirement
- Is authorised to take urgent or emergency action to remedy sudden problems or discrepancies.
- Has authority to communicate with the client and any local entity or authority in the execution of his tasks.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory:
- University degree (comparable with bachelor / master) or equivalent experience.
- Fluent in English, second language recommended Hindi,
- Knowledge of Hydro power plant Control system Commissioning.
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

Mandatory: - 8-12 years’ experience in power plant Commissioning and engineering.
- Appropriate experience and training in general leadership and management technique.
- Good in English required
- Sound knowledge of commissioning Rockwell automation platform for Hydro power plants
- Leadership and social competence
- Extensive knowledge of power plant systems
- Capable to train others
- Motivating and well-aimed promotion of ideas and concepts
