Genesis10 is seeking a Junior Business Intelligence Engineer for a contract to hire position with a reinsurance firm located. This will be a hybrid position and requires being onsite in Warren, NJ or Hartford, CT 3-4 times per month.

Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to scope, design, develop, and deliver management reports, dashboard, and relevant business analysis in a comprehensive, simple to understand, intuitive, and visually stimulating manner. We are looking for someone with a passion for analytics and experience extracting insight and “the story from data. Someone willing to explore new tools, techniques, and business areas to create impactful analytical solutions is desired. Responsibilities will include developing standardized analysis packages, executing bespoke “fit for purpose analysis, and acting as an investigative journalist seeking the real underlying story. This position is part of a business team responsible for Data & Analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop business intelligence reports and dashboards using Enterprise data and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL Server) following company’s best practices and approved methodologies.
  • Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports as well as identify new trends and patterns from the complex data sets.
  • Verify data accuracy and integrity when sourcing data from a variety of underlying platforms to drive improved insights and reporting
  • Analyze industry data from 3rd party, peers, and other macroeconomic trends to develop enhanced business insights.
  • Deliver recurring management reports and ad-hoc requests; this includes utilization of available data from various systems by data extraction, cleansing, and building reports and data models.
  • Visualize and develop solutions (dashboards, scorecards, analytic reports) to highlight trends and anomalies in data. Tell the story by contextualizing the reports with automated insights in form of narratives and observations.
  • Collaborate with IT and other members of the unit in finding the best reporting solution that is robust, reliable and quick-to-market.


Qualifications:

  • Min. 2 years of experience with Power BI, SQL, ADF
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to provide a visualization of a data story
  • Bachelor’s degree or extensive experience in Finance, Data & Analytics, Data Visualization, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, MIS, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Preferred experience in Insurance industry with in-depth knowledge of Insurance financials and data applications.
  • Proficiency in maximizing the power of dashboarding and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI), and knowledge of Azure cloud and Data Lake preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases, ETL, and related tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) preferred.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize data, identify and highlight trends, assess business impacts, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make solid recommendations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on the audience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to work both in a team environment and independently on assignments
  • Operate effectively in a culture that promotes collaboration, execution, humility, thoughtfulness, and leadership.
