ARCAID Division within the Information and Communications Laboratory(ICL) is looking for a Student Assistant for Fall 2024 to join our AI research team and help explore and evaluate large language models (LLMs). In this role, you will gain hands-on experience exploring the use and limitations of state-of-the-art natural language AI systems.
Responsibilities may include:
- Support research in the curation, integration, and maintenance knowledge graphs and datasets
- Develop neural-assisted graph queries and algorithms to analyze knowledge graphs
- Assist with developing neural-symbolic models that incorporate knowledge graph data
- Participate in literature reviews and background research
- Take detailed notes during project meetings and synthesize key insights
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and academic papers on project outcomes
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python
- Understanding of knowledge representation, logic, graph theory or related areas
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently when needed
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality contributions
Student Assistant/Research Assistant
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cognitive Science, Mathematics, or related field
- Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
- 3.0 or higher GPA
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or previous experience in knowledge graphs, semantic web, cognitive science
- Experience with at least one knowledge graph tool, like Neo4j
- Familiarity with machine learning and neural networks
- Academic writing and research skills
- Knowledge of AI safety and ethics considerations
Hours per Week
10–20 hours per week
