Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience as a product management leader.
- Experience in ML, developer APIs, and open source technologies.
- Experience working with ML APIs or building applied ML products leveraging ML APIs at scale.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business administration with 20 years of experience, or an advanced degree in engineering.
- Experience leading both product and engineering, or research and applied science.
- Experience with innovation of technology within cross-functional engineering environments.
- Understanding of the devices landscape and embedded ML solutions.
- Ability to balance technical guidance with strategy and enable teams to deliver products that are managing data.
About the job
As the Director of Product Management for Core Machine Learning (ML) APIs, you will provide leadership and direct influence over differentiation that enables developers to innovate at scale. Core ML provides products, technologies and services to a wide variety of Google customers and stakeholders.
In this role, you will impact solutions across all product areas in Google and help define ML API strategy, define go-to-market and commercialization opportunities, as well as build strategic plans for the various frameworks powering the ML ecosystem.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Googleโs flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Googleโs products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Responsibilities
- Develop products and technical roadmap, craft the approach for Googleโs products, as well as the third-party strategy for ML APIs.
- Develop partnerships across Googleโs product areas (e.g., Google Cloud, Research, Ads, Devices and Services) and understand their strategic priorities and infrastructure requirements.
- Advocate and influence frameworks for audiences (e.g., researchers, applied ML modelers, ML deployers).
- Manage decisions around prioritization, solutions, functionality, and optimization for performance and cost.
- Recruit and lead a multi-disciplinary product management team responsible for improving the efficiency of ML APIs.
