Minimum qualifications:
- 10 years of experience extracting and analyzing datasets using SQL, R/Python, or similar tools
- 10 years of experience developing and validating hypotheses using data, designing and measuring impact of experiments, and other inference methods to drive business recommendations
- 5 years of experience nurturing and developing problem-solving talent
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or graduate degree in a Management, Technical or Engineering field
- Ability to present to executives and communicate with highly technical management team
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analysis skills, combined with impeccable business judgment
- Excellent written and verbal communication and people management skills
About the job
As the Head of Analytics and Insights on the Play Strategy and Operations team in charge of partnering with the Merchandising Team, you combine a love of data with great business judgment and communication skills in order to develop strategies with actionable insights from user behavior globally. You have great attention to detail, and summarize with brevity and impact, operating in the start-up nature of Google Play.
Your work critically enables Play Merchandising to curate the Play store with meaningful content during moments of importance to users (holidays like Cyber Week, etc.) and the developer ecosystem (new game launches, etc.). You will lead performance measurement on Merchandising activities and drive measurement of progress against Objective and Key Results (OKRs).
You will provide quantitative support, market insights, and a strategic perspective to your partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You have to take initiative, relish tallying up the numbers, and communicating your findings to the leadership.

Responsibilities
- Partner with the Play Merchandising team and the business teams to define business performance goals, strategies to achieve and measure success
- Blend problem-solving expertise with business knowledge to execute in-depth search and deliver actionable recommendations for executive forums
- Help team define, develop, automate relevant metrics and dashboards to support decision-making by relevant stakeholders. Set standards and benchmarks to evaluate campaigns, marketing, and other initiatives globally, by vertical and by region
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define problem-solving scope, success criteria, timeline for various projects and manage overall investigative project execution. Work with business, product and engineering counterparts to translate insights into experiments, conduct measurements, and business cases for scaling actions
- Define and develop relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor and optimize business performance
