Minimum qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in privacy engineering
- Experience in code review in one or more general purpose languages, and with the software development lifecycle
- Experience working in a security and/or privacy team on data protection/user trust and performing threat modeling
- Experience with Android
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience achieving positive user outcomes
- Ability to practice patience with excellent facilitation/discussion skills
- Understanding of technical privacy issues (e.g., encryption, permissions, etc.)
About the job
The India Android Security team works to understand and address the needs in the Indian market relative to affordability of cellular data, regulatory space, digital payment standards, and entertainment. Our goal is to protect and defend users of the Android platform. We define, enable, and enforce appropriate security policies, processes, and controls on co-branded devices from launch to end-of-life.
In this role, you will help create excellent products that provide great benefit to consumers and, at the same time, treat their data respectfully, with transparency, and in line with reasonable practices. We work on protecting users on our platforms, products, and in promoting privacy-enhancing design. We do so in partnership with Developer Relations teams and working cross-functionally with Product Strategy teams (e.g., Engineering, Legal, Policy, etc.) and partners (e.g., device manufacturers and third-party developers).

Responsibilities
- Provide privacy review, policy, and tooling support for India market Google branded Android devices.
- Review and partner on agreement details of privacy-forward preloaded apps.
- Design and build tooling for automated reviews of preloaded apps.
- Guide Engineering teams during product development to ensure that their data collection and usage practices are transparent, protect user privacy, and mitigate risk.
- Conduct technical and policy reviews to identify and escalate potential privacy concerns.
