Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 20 years of professional experience or 18 years with an advanced degree.
  • 10 years of experience as a Software Engineering leader.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 25 years of professional experience, with 10 years of experience in infrastructure software engineering.
  • Experience in technical innovation within large, complex, and cross-functional engineering environments and ideation and innovation of technology at scale.
  • Experience with building ML infrastructure or products with heavy ML usage and building software runtimes or intermediate representations of programs in an ML environment.
  • Experience successfully producing software products and large-scale distributed systems and delivering successfully within timelines.
  • Understanding of computing, data centers, enterprise software and hardware infrastructure with technical knowledge to be credible with customers and engineers.

Core Machine Learning (ML) is focused on driving ML excellence across Google and thereby bringing the best experience to users across the world. By aligning infrastructure initiatives with areas of research and product innovation, we are able to best meet the challenges and opportunities of ML technology.

In this role, you will lead teams that focus on lead building Out of Bound (OOB) support for Responsible AI and Trust aspects including fairness, explainability, governance, privacy, security and robustness in Core ML services and Solutions. You will engage with Trust UTL, other Core ML engineering teams, research, compliance, privacy teams to deliver on Responsible AI technical roadmap in production. The team will be responsible for designing and launching solutions for AI/ML governance and privacy in production at scale including monitoring, tracking and alerting across all Trust dimensions.

You will influence partners and stakeholders across Core and other areas to successfully support ML efforts across the company, both in the near-term and long-term.

Responsibilities

  • Build OOB support for Trust and Responsible AI for all Core ML services and Solutions through the development of tools and systems.
  • Develop talent through effective mentoring, development, and inspiration with a focus on talent management and instilling a data-driven culture that works in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with various teams in Research and other areas (e.g., Google Ads, Search, YouTube, Geo, etc.) to build consensus and influence where necessary to build joint roadmaps and drive adoption of tools and standards.
  • Work with Research, Compliance, Privacy, and Regulations to identify and invest in gaps prioritized by the risk profile and regulatory requirements.
  • Own and set the strategy, roadmap, and implementation for multiple areas of focus, manage short- and long-term priorities against various business needs.
