The Director, Reporting & Analytics oversees the creation and management of important metrics, dashboards, databases, and tools used to inform and implement decisions across the core growth drivers for the Grainger Business Unit. You will lead a 20+ person team that partners across the Grainger Business Unit to develop –
- Field reporting for sales and onsite services team members and leadership including financial performance drivers, performance to goal / compensation, planning and initiative guidance, and execution metrics
- Customer reporting including partnership with sales leaders to design and build important customer-facing analytical resources and close partnership with Grainger Technology Group Customer Insights product team
- Foundational analytics tools for operational excellence across important support functions and Grainger Business Unit operations
- Initiative monitoring for consistently and systematically assessing leading indicators of performance for execution to objectives and data-driven planning
You will work with senior leaders and partners; and advance the Grainger Analytics community on analysis techniques, data availability, data governance, and architecture. You will report to the VP of Customer Strategy and Sales Enablement. This is a hybrid role and is based out of our Lake Forest office.
- Be responsible for the design, creation, and management of reporting and analytical tools that provide important insights and business intelligence to support the needs of customers, sales and service team-members, and other important Grainger Business Unit functions
- Embed with business process design teams (e.g., Sales Process Development & Execution) and lead Agile development and rapid testing of analytical tools and workflow applications that help orchestrate collaboration, decision making, and process execution
- Manage intake, work selection, and progression of workflow according to executive leadership priorities. Influence major and minor plans with analytics and insights that inform strategies, business decisions, and recommendations
- Collaborate with analytics leaders from across the company to establish shared sources of truth. Lead projects to align practices, follow standards, and promote Enterprise Data Governance framework
- Develop direct reports and guide an engaged organization with strong leadership and culture
- MBA or related Master’s degree or 10+ years of work experience in analytics or a related field with best-in-class capabilities in data design, data visualization, reporting, and automation.
- Led large teams possessing strong technical skills and acumen
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with business and technology leaders
- Expertise in working with data systems and tools including SQL, Power BI, Teradata, Snowflake
- Proficiency designing and applying data governance best practices
