We Are Looking to Add a Key Member to Our Data Analytics & Insights Group!
The Credit & Risk Data Analyst will work closely with credit and risk business stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to leverage data for enhanced decision making and to generate actionable insights which drive incremental business value for both GreatAmerica and our customers. Analytics projects will run the full spectrum of the business intelligence maturity model including descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis.
As a Credit & Risk Data Analyst, You’ll:
- Apply Your Expertise! Monitor production commercial credit, auto approval and fraud detection model approaches while you explore and develop new approaches in collaboration with 3rd party solution providers and internal business stakeholders.
- Take Initiative! Work with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for use of data to deliver incremental business value to functional areas and/or business units.
- Deliver High Quality Results! Participate as integral component of the credit and risk leadership teams; helping identify and drive material business capability improvements.
- Manage Multiple Priorities! Develop actionable data visualization vehicles for use by business leaders to change business outcomes. Communicate analytical results via both written and oral presentation to business stakeholders. Identify gaps in data collection and collaborate with engineering on data capture specifications
- Be a Data Champion! Promote a data driven culture throughout GreatAmerica via active participation in a data champion community utilized for knowledge and best practice sharing.
- Share Your Knowledge! Educate and mentor business stakeholders on the application of analytical approaches, including problem statement definition, decision trees, trending analysis, forecasting, key performance indicators, etc.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Math, Information Systems, Statistics or relevant field. Master’s degree or professional certification in business analytics is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience performing analysis in a business setting with a history of deriving actionable insights from complex datasets utilizing advanced analytics. Prior experience developing or managing credit or risk related models is a plus.
- Excellent SQL experience writing queries to acquire data from complex data sets.
- Expertise with data visualization and dashboard tools such as Tableau, QlikView or equivalent
- Experience with predictive modeling scripting languages such as Python is a plus
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.
- This position is located at our Cedar Rapids, Iowa office or in Des Moines, Iowa and has the potential to be a hybrid position.
