Biostatistics is the single-largest functional group of Statisticians, Programmers and Data Scientists within GSK R&D, numbering approx. 700 permanent people in the US, UK, Europe, and India. Our work ensures that robust quantitative examination and statistical analysis is at the heart of R&D decision-making and enables scientists to make timely, data-driven choices about which potential new medicines and vaccines are most promising to add value for patients – ultimately making the development process more efficient and maximizing success.
We are investing in growing our data science capabilities as part of Technical Excellence and Innovation team, which is designed to accelerate Biostatistics at GSK to industry Pre-eminence – that means Biostatistics should be THE BEST in the industry. We do that through teaching, tooling, and empowering the organization for achieving Technical Excellence in Data preparation, Analysis of data and Share the results with modern methodologies and the catalyst of Innovation Excellence.
Excellence is achieved in four Technical products,
Data Excellence deals with the data input pipeline; the storage of data so that is it findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable; enabling the enrichment of data into standardized form (ADaM); metadata; and the governance of that data. Analysis Excellence builds automation based on standards and provides the necessary flexibility and agility to allow a focus on the science and meaning of the data. This will be achieved through seamless integration of standards, tools & metrics; develop a modern, multi-lingual programming framework to accelerate the delivery of standard programming tools; and modern data visualization dashboards to enable better storytelling around our data. Share Excellence optimizes the presentation of the data and analyses; delivers traceability between results and their code, data and metadata; facilitates sharing and review; and ensures compliance with any standards, regulations or requirements for the purpose of use. Innovation Excellence hub is designed to challenge the status quo, address business problems through curiosity, focus, persistence and collaboration to come up with and share for revolutionary results.
Our services are broadly spread across five areas,
Governance on analysis data and results, products/tools, metrics and change management.
Asset Management to drive the development cycle of programming tools and applications.
Consultancy to support, guide and represent the department both inside and outside the organization.
Innovation to create the culture of innovation at all levels by supporting in transforming the ideas into working models.
Measure & Monitor processes, issues, technical skills and usage of tools to ensure it is service the purpose.
Our workforce work as a matrix across all of the products in an agile way and currently we are geographically spread across Europe, India, United Kingdom and United States.
