Now is an exciting time to join R&D Tech organization and drive a change in the way we use technology and how we ensure the adoption of DevOps processes and tools. The Senior Software Engineer will play significant role in setting the strategic direction for Platform Products and leading both on-prem and cloud based change across Data Platform Product Teams within DP&S, R&D Tech, they will be responsible for enabling, advising, coaching and technical implementation of our tools and services.
In the platform core team, we design, develop and improve innovative tech products to provide the base for R&D Tech Clinical Engineering teams so they can ensure every single patient globally on every single clinical trial receives their investigational medicine at the time that they need it by leverage.
Our tech stack currently mostly focuses on products like ADLS2, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Equalum, Denodo, Databricks, Airflow, DataKitchen etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver solutions and be able to address complex technical challenges.
- Design and develop new features and improve existing software to fit unique customer needs and configurations.
- Contribute to estimates of resources, time, and technical requirements of modifying, configuring, and installing the organization’s products to meet customer needs.
- Liaise with hardware, software, and systems design engineers to ensure that products and services are modified, configured, and installed according to customer needs.
- Ensure that technical delivery is fully compliant with GSK Security, Quality and Regulatory standards.

Create Standards, Processes and Assets
- Create standards for the Orchestration tool.
- Assist Product Team and Solution Groups in setting clear and concise maturity and strategics goals to help them on their journey in the tool adoption.
- Provide clear guidance to Product Teams and self-service collateral to Product Teams
- Collaborate across the organization so that all components provided meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, automatically generating the documentation in a compliant and seamless manner.

Provide Thought Leadership and Demonstrate Technical Excellence within DevOps
- Participate in LT strategic and operational discussions, enabling the organization to set a clear direction of travel.
- Act as thought leader for Product Teams, participating in PI Planning Events and Technical Assessments to ensure your knowledge and experience is distributed across the organization and other engineers are upskilled.
- Build strong trusted, working relationships with Engineering Leads to enable us to work together as a high performing organization.

Troubleshoot and problem solve for key issues
- Work with Product Teams to identify, troubleshoot and address issues.
- Participate in Architecture and Solution discussions with Product Teams and provide input into reference architecture.
- Strong coding skills in any programming language.
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to navigate increasingly ambiguous engineering problems with creativity, innovation and curiosity
- Contributions to open source and/or large-scale software projects

- 2-3 years of Experience with any COTS/Open Source orchestration tool preferably Airflow in terms of deployment, management, configuration, usage
- 1-2 Years Experience building DAG’s
- 3 years of Experience of at least working on Azure
- Good to have BigData experience
- Testing automation knowledge
- Experience with source control github
- Experience in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, Ruby etc)
- Source orchestration tool preferably Airflow.
- 1-2 years of Experience with container orchestration Kubernetes
- 1-2 years’ experience hands on experience covering the likes of building ci/cd pipeline possibly Azure pipelines and documentation
- Experience with infra monitoring and alerts etc
- Experience with Service Management tools (specifically Remedy, Archer, & ServiceNow)
- 10+ Years of Technical Engineering work experience
- Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Management, Pharma industry or Related Field
