Responsibilities
- Meeting with stakeholders across State to gather requirements and understand business processes that will inform/impact the creation of dashboards
- Developing intuitive, attractive, and interactive data visualizations using large data sets to create Tableau dashboards for a diverse set of users with varying technical capabilities
- Establising data visualization standards and exploring new, cutting-edge tools to periodically raise those standards
- Transforming data (expert level) in Tableau (e.g., Level of Detail (LOD) expressions), joining, and querying datasets using Tableau’s interface. Dashboards that may include hyperlinked tooltips, buttons, and parameters and require working with Tableau server (e.g., publishing, extract refreshes, user management)
- Supporting efforts to improve the data architecture, writing schemas, structuring data warehouses, and visualizing large, complex, and live datasets across a multitude of platforms
- Collecting, transforming, cleaning, and validating data from multiple sources
- Crafting automation techniques for data collection, transformation, cleaning, and validation
- Developing and maintaining data governance documentation, tools, and templates
- Coordinating with non-technical users to gather requirements, summarize and catalog data fidelity issues, and make recommendations to client leaders
- Requesting, documenting, reporting, and analyzing implementing partner data, and, where applicable, creating tools and resources to support implementing partner data and reporting
Qualifications
The following qualifications are REQUIRED to be considered for this role:
- Active or interim Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 2 years of visualization and analytical experience, preferably supporting U.S. government agencies
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Experience in data analysis methods and using Tableau, or similar Data Visualization tools to develop visualizations
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, data analytics, mathematics, engineering or equivalent
- State Department experience (or other International agency); knowledge and experience with foreign assistance program lifecycle; prior consulting experience; attention to detail; excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills; ability to clearly and succintly define problems and design solutions. AI/ML, Python, R, or NLP experience a plus. The candidate should have a strong background in creating interactive dashboards that may include hyperlinked tooltips, buttons, and parameters and be comfortable working with Tableau server (e.g., publishing, extract refreshes, user management).
- The ideal candidate will be proactive, anticipating client needs before they arise, developing and adhering to workplans for deliverables and work products, communicating and collaborating regularly with team members and clients, have a high attention to detail and quality, and strong written and oral communication skills.
