Job Description:

Works with Manager or designee to coordinate aspects of analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of purchased or internally developed information system applications. Serves as project lead. Provides application support to assigned systems.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Work with IS department colleagues and all end users to provide timely, respectful, and comprehensive communication for the purpose of customer satisfaction.

2. Coordinates and participates with some guidance and direction aspects of systems analysis and process, planning, selection or design, development, testing, and implementation of information systems.

3. Coordinates and participates with some guidance and direction in efforts towards maintaining components of business or clinical information systems including revisions, testing, and integration of changes in components.

4. Prepares detailed program specifications and flowcharts, and coordinates system installations with the user department with some guidance and direction.

5. Serves as IS Project Lead.

6. Provides application support, including problem analysis, user assistance queries, application issues/enhancement requests, systems upgrades and quality monitoring.

7. Assists with planning and coordinating upgrades to current applications and assures that communication and training for end users is conducted.

8. Participates or evaluates applications and provides recommendations to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

9. Participates in the development of basic tenets and principles into operable policies, procedures, systems , methods, instruction guides and training aids for system-wide applications.

10. Provide proactive user support including but not limited to training and education. Assist in evaluation and development of training and in-service programs.

11. Provide computer training and orientation activities for current and in-coming personnel, students, and faculty.

12. Maintain a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current applications, their functions and relationship to other information systems within the enterprise.

13. Maintains accurate project documentation to include but not limited to minutes, issues reports, status reports, cost reports, benefit measurements, project schedules and key decisions.

14. Ensure preparation and maintenance of contingency plans and knowledge base documents(KB docs).

15. System access is based on the individual’s role as determined by their immediate supervisor or manager.

16. For an Epic support position, the current version of Epic Certification in area of support must be held, or relevant EPIC class must be started within 3 months of either hire, release of new version of EPIC, or new EPIC application assignment. Certification must be obtained within 6 months of start of relevant class.

17. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Associate degree in Health Information Management or Nursing or Accounting or Management Information Systems or Computer Science or a related field

DESIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or Nursing or Accounting or Management of Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science or a related field

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

3-4 years experience working in healthcare or business. Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for work experience.

License and Certifications:

DESIRED

Registered Nurse (RN) licensed minimally in the state of practice

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
