About the Role
Harman X is seeking a talented and motivated Lead Engineer for Data Collection teams. HARMAN X is the corporate research division that focuses on advanced technology development for applications across all Harman product lines including Automotive, Lifestyle (consumer), and Professional.
As the Lead Engineer you will be part of the Data Collection team, who work with test subjects (data participants) to collect real-time data in lab simulators and in vehicles which involves acquiring images, videos, ECG, EEG and other biosignals to support the Machine Learning for our driver monitoring system. This person will lead all aspects of data collection, and data quality control for our international sites.
Your Team
This position has up to 4 direct reports
What You Will Do

Be responsible for the work of all operators (from 4 to 10)

Manage the recruitment process for the team, communicate with recruiting companies, update the groups distribution based on project demands

Ensure the full load of operators and the possibility of carrying out planned experiments

Lead and develop a team of Data Collection Operators

Plan shifts and balance workload
-
Execute, supervise, and report data collection activities in accordance with the approved protocols

Manage and assign resources to support data collection at multiple sites and ensure schedules for data collection

Monitor team performance and coach team members to attain high team productivity

Conduct data collection experiments on your own if necessary

Control equipment and expendable materials status, communicate with suppliers/providers for new parts purchasing

Communicate with international sites, tech support team to ensure agile implementation of recent changes/updates in HW/SW
What You Need

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management equivalent

4+ years’ experience managing teams

Experience in organizing work groups, training staffs, and ensuring quality compliance

Strong organizational and management skills, with an ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment

Ability to resolve workplace issues effectively
-
Commitment to team productivity and work quality

Ability to work in a global matrixed organization and communicate at all levels
What is Nice to Have
-
Experience with Hardware assembly and maintenance, including sensors and actuators (e.g. PCs, Cameras, Motors)

Experience with large scale data collection

Ability to identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality

Experience with CI tools such as Git, Jira
