Associate DevOps Engineer

As a Associate DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a cross-matrixed team responsible as an individual contributor, bridging the gap between application development and IT operations teams by owning and driving cloud infrastructure, code deployments, continuous integration, and production support in an Agile Method.
The Associate DevOps Engineer will perform an operational and project support role for our Enterprise Platform. Responsibilities include automating everything possible, optimizing our stack for performance and fault tolerance, building out our logging and monitoring systems to identify bottlenecks and assist with troubleshooting and debugging, contributing to our devops strategy, platform analysis and optimization, and experimenting with and recommending new technologies to accomplish any of the above goals.
Responsibilities
- Partner with development and infrastructure to design and build highly available and scalable software solutions
- Deploy, monitor, and administer applications and underlying services to all environments starting from dev to production
- Lead technology initiatives that drive scalability and reliability
- Improve the performance of our platform applications and solve scaling issues
- Build tools and automation that will help eliminate repetitive manual operations
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for all areas of responsibility
- Coordinate and cooperate with counterparts in the offices around the globe
- Participate in operations support and on-call rotation schedule
Qualifications
- 1+ years’ experience working in software development environment and SDLC
- Experience with the following products or similar: Jboss, RabbitMQ, Apache Camel, Weblogic
- Strong experience in configuration management tools – SaltStack, Ansible or similar
- Good understanding of code and ability to script in at least one of these languages – Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby
- Experience with Continuous Delivery and Integration Tools – Jenkins, GitLabs or similar
- Must have experience with monitoring tools – Appdynamics, Solarwinds or similar
- Container experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar
- Splunk or/and Elasticsearch experience
- Strong Background in Linux Administration
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience with managing a complex, multi-tiered production environment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills conducive to team development, must be a good team player
- Excellent Communication Skills – high degree of verbal and written proficiency, be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent analytical skills
- Results driven with penchant for initiative, teamwork, urgency and integrity
- Passionate towards proactive monitoring, uptime and failover technologies
- Experience working with Cloud providers – AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience with document management systems – Oracle WebCenter, OpenText (Documentum) or similar
- Ability to write SQL statements for troubleshooting purposes
- Exposure to JVM tuning
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field or in the process of obtaining one
