Summary:
The Business Data and Insights Officer – Finance serves as the subject matter expert, accountable for defining data usage guidelines and approval authority over data-related decisions within the Finance Business Segment. This includes effective development of Finance Data Governance practices and adherence to the Enterprise Data Policy, Standards and ensuring change management practices are consistently applied, and provide a critical point of view for the vision of data and analytics for the enterprise and the Finance Business Segment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Champion effective Finance Data Governance practices and ensure adherence to the Enterprise Data Policy and Standards; ensure change management practices are consistently applied.
- Develop processes to drive the adoption of enterprise data standards, processes and systems for data produced by the Finance Business Segment.
- Define data usage guidelines and approval authority over data-related decisions within Finance.
- Actively consult with owners of data that is consumed by the Finance Business Segment.
- Address data challenges and gaps within Finance, working closely with Enterprise Data leaders, Data Governance & Advisory Council, CDAO, Data Trustees & Curators, and technology partners across the data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the CDAO to translate business strategy into Finance data and analytics needs.
- Collaborate with other business function BDIOs to resolve data matters that cross business segments, escalate to the Data Governance & Advisory Council when requiredยท
- Develop processes to support the ongoing improvement of data quality within Finance including identify critical finance data assets and assignment of Data Trustees and Data Curators to manage them.
- Understand the legal/compliance/regulatory issues impacting the data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 12+ years in finance processes, data and systems
- 3+ years hands-on experience designing and implementing Data Management and Governance frameworks across finance or other critical corporate functions
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years in a data stewardship or similar capacity
- CPA
- 5+ years of experience leading financial, regulatory or management reporting for a U.S. bank with knowledge of SEC, US GAAP and U.S. regulatory reporting requirements
- Well-developed negotiation, influencing, and partnership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Business outcome focused
- Demonstrated perseverance
