Your Role and Responsibilities
Business Analysts have expertise in analysis and description of business processes, and their translation into functional and non-functional IT requirements. Business analysts act as the interpreters between the worlds of IT and business. Typical examples of the deliverables are functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, use-cases, process models, and impact analysis. Focuses on Individual/Team/ Department Operational Objectives.
Product definition:
- Work with the Watson Health offering managers and business partners in defining the product requirements using frameworks like Jobs to be Done and User Journey Mapping
- Define and document functional, non-functional, user experience requirements, process flows, use case scenarios, user stories, models, and conceptual design diagrams to support iterative development
- Lead cross functional department meetings to define and obtain a sign off on the product requirements
- Product development:
- Provide constant vision and “”voice of the customer”” to the development team during the product development and testing process
- Define epics and granular user stories, as applicable, based on the product requirements
- Collaborate with QA teams in reviewing test plans for applicability and test coverage
- Participate in scrum ceremonies as the product owner and assist in sprint planning, estimation, requirement analysis and review, taking a call on trade-offs and conflict resolution
- Prioritize requirements for the sprint and the release collaborating with the offering manager
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Architecture, Legal and the PMO teams to deliver technology to comply with regulations like HIPAA, GDPR, etc.
- Product marketing:
- Contribute to outbound product marketing and collateral development, including feature and product capability descriptions, release notes, technical specifications, technical user and business value stories, client case studies, and the like
- Provide internal training in to Support, Services, and other teams
- Provide demo of implemented functionality to internal/external parties
- Production support:
- Serve as a product specialist for Client Service Managers and Support teams
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues, identifying and analyzing root causes
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for business users
- Identify product enhancements based on customer feedback.
People Management:
- Manage and mentor junior business analysts
- Collaborate with teams across functions to get things done.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Business Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in translating business requirements to product requirements and product requirements to detailed user stories for implementation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Technical Skills:
- Experience in defining products and(or) solutions that are built on architectural frameworks like Microservices, Multi-tenancy, and Platform and Subscription business models, etc.
- Experience in working in Agile teams and with latest DevOps practices like CICD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Development)
Knowledge of tools:
- Working knowledge
- Agile tools like Jira and Aha
- data visualization tools like Cognos, MS Dynamics and Tableau
- Wireframing tools like Balsamiq and Adobe XD
Exposure:
- Machine Learning models
- Business Process Modelling (BPM) tools like Pega
Preferred: Certifications in product management from Pragmatic Marketing, Blackblot or Institute of Product Leadership.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Healthcare domain. Experience in Health Benefits management, Healthcare AI Product Development and Implementation experience will be preferred
- At least 8+ years’ experience in translating business requirements to product requirements and user stories
- Managed at least 4 product releases as a product owner or business analysts
- Experience of managing a team of business analysts.
