Business Analytics Intern – Summer 2023
As a Business Analytics Intern on the IEX Exchange Team, you will work with individuals across the organization to help advance IEX’s exchange offerings and make IEX the best place to trade stocks. This is a cross-functional opportunity where you will be able to leverage both your strong technical and soft skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to help IEX set new standards and raise the bar for performance, fairness, and transparency.
As an intern, you will help us build scalable solutions to various challenges across the Exchange team, working with various groups including Technology, Operations, Business Development, Product, and Business Analytics. Over the course of the internship, you will learn about the stock exchange business and various aspects of electronic trading.

What you’ll do:
- Become a subject matter expert on the mechanics of electronic trading, U.S. equity market structure, data analysis, and apply those concepts when working with customers, clients, and improving our future products
- Develop expertise with IEX technology systems, trading functionality, order types, and market data
- Shadow and assist members of various IEX Exchange teams, including Technology, Operations, Business Development, Business Analytics, and Product
- Assist with data analysis and creation of client presentations
- Work with team members to present analyses to external clients and internal stakeholders
Your background:
- Undergraduate working towards a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Eagerness to work in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment where you can make a meaningful contribution with your work
- Ability to collect, organize, and display relevant data in spreadsheet and professional presentation formats; familiarity with SQL, Python, Tableau, or KDB is a big plus
- Experience working with external parties (e.g., clients, customers, vendors, consultants, etc.)
