Position summary
The BizOps Data Architect should understand the business needs/requirements, explore the existing data structure, and creates a blueprint for building an integrated framework of easily accessible, secure data aligned with business strategy. The data architect will play a critical role to design the departments database by identifying structural and installation solutions.
Duties include creating database solutions, evaluating requirements, and preparing design reports. Responsibility as the data architect will be to develop, optimize, and oversee our team s conceptual and logical data systems. Duties may include preparing architect reports, monitoring systems, and supervising system migrations. The overall vision for this role is to convert business requirements into technical requirements that will be provided to the Data Engineering team for development and deployment.
Duties accountabilities
- Collaborate with commercial business, product, and engineering teams to understand, translate, review and playback requirements into conceptual and logical data models, interface specifications, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies
- Develop and maintain an architectural blueprint and evolutionary roadmap that defines and communicates the strategic direction for these data architectures in support of business and technical strategies
- Model the business architecture across NRS, including current architectural artifacts, business capability maps and business process models
- Develop and maintain the NRS Business Glossary and mappings to data entities, attributes, and relationships
- Recommend solutions and/or new technologies based upon business value drivers, proven architecture principles, patterns and return on investment
- Understanding and communicating strategic themes, and other key business drivers for architecture, to product and engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with corporate Information Security teams and Architecture teams to continually improve the security posture and engineering quality
- Work closely with lead architects to shape team priorities and NRS Data Strategy and Architecture transformation roadmap
- Provide solutions and expertise to optimize industry best practices and internal guidelines
- Provide transparency through well-defined metrics, automation, and reporting
- Provide guidance to and work closely with the global taxonomy leads to provide input on data governance, and the management of data quality, reference and master data, and metadata
- Defining and managing the flow of data and dissemination of information within the organization.
Experience/Minimum Requirements:
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Management, or a related field
- 7-10 years of proven experience in:
- Data warehouse, modelling and design, including SQL development and database administration
- Programming ETL tools – Alteryx (preferred) and/or Python, or R
- Hands-on experience with SQL database design, schema design and dimensional data modelling
- Experience with ontology or semantic systems (e.g. RDF, RDFS, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL)
- Extensive knowledge of modern database technologies (e.g. Triple Stores, Labeled Property Graphs, Hypergraphs)
- In-depth experience with API technologies (e.g. GraphQL, gRPC)
- Knowledge of systems development, including system development life cycle, project management approaches and requirements, design and testing techniques
- Understanding of predictive modelling, NLP/text analysis, Machine Learning
- Ability to implement common data management and reporting technologies

- Data mining and BI visualization tools (Tableau)
