Position: Associate Data Scientist – Automotive Supply Chain & Technology
Description of Duties
The Automotive Supply Chain and Technology team at IHS Markit is in search of a Data Scientist to create cutting edge products in synergy with global research team. The research team produces granular forecast dataset and written analyses on the supply chain of parts supplied to automakers with technology, supplier, and logistic information. The team generate forecasts on technology trends through multiple research channels and by using many connected and disconnected data sources to drive the forecast.
The position covers an array of data-centric activities aimed at envisioning the products for the future for IHS Markit’s fastest growing product line and enhancing the efficiency of our 70+ strong research team. The position is based in Gurgaon or Bangalore, India and will report to head of Data Science team in India.
Responsibilities and duties
- Model building using Python
- Data restructuring and transformation for large inter-connected data sets
- Harness machine learning and statistical modelling with a view to develop new insightful products
- Identifying, assembling, and enriching a wide range of structured and unstructured data to support new automotive forecasts and analysis
- Data wrangling and data mining to support product innovation and model creation
- Optimizing efficiency using cutting edge data science techniques (e.g. NLP, Deep Learning)
- Build/maintain ETL infrastructure
Qualifications and skills
- 2+ years’ experience as a data scientist
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or related quantitative field
- Expertise in programming/scripting within Python is a must
- Well-organized, structured approach to problem-solving
- Proven experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Ability to build models (e.g. Linear regression, ARIMA, KNN, Logistic, Classification and Regression Trees, Naive Bayes) with a view to solve complex high dimensional data
- Hands on experience with AWS is desirable
- Familiarity with data science platforms such as KNIME is a bonus
- Knowledge of OLAP and ETL processes
- Good communication skills, collaborative team spirit, curiosity to constantly keep thinking of unique approaches and solutions.
