JOB TITLE: Sr. Eng I – STS BI
JOB PURPOSE (JOB SUMMARY):

This role will be part of a Team that owns the end-to-end process of managing the availability, reliability, and accessibility of data in an Enterprise data mart.
-
The role will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and supporting data mart environment, including database design, T-SQL tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions by writing efficient code, following standard methodologies and implementing best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Continuously work towards improving database design and optimizing performance
- Build, maintain and enhance the business intelligence data backend including ETL processing, database tables, views, and stored procedures
- Analyze the source data from connected database/Excel/flat files, create destination tables, and load the data using stored procedures or SSIS packages.
- Responsible for writing complex yet efficient code for the database views by following the standards and utilizing latest methodologies
- Improve existing systems and processes thru continuous improvement, best practices, analytical and strategic thinking in data management
- Document and maintain database architecture mappings to account for upstream/downstream dependencies
- Be aware of potential blocking, deadlocking and inefficient queries. Implement processes to avoid, detect and resolve such and other issues
- Proactively address data quality concerns and troubleshoot errors
- Review and implement user access and data security to ensure
Work Experience / Knowledge:
- Extensive experience in working with MS SQL server database including creating database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Extensive experience in writing queries using CTE, sub queries, joins and temporary tables
- Experience in maintaining the database integrity by identifying and creating required constraints and indexes
- Experience in setting up connections to various data sources including csv, MS Excel, ODBC, and other databases using linked servers
- Experience in using SQL built-in functions and user define functions
- Should have experience in performance tuning and query optimization, along with error handling and troubleshooting
- Experience in creating SSIS packages and all data flow task transformations including error handling and proactive monitoring of imports
- Experience in loading data from flat file, Excel, and other sources
- Knowledge on SQL Agent jobs and schedules
- Experience in setting up the containers, transforming data using derived columns, writing script task and conditional formatting.
- Is comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Can manage multiple tasks simultaneously; pays close attention to detail
- Is capable of following through on all assignments
- Possesses exceptional oral and written communications skills
- Is adept at managing competing priorities
- Can work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively with technical and business staff across geographic areas
