About the Position
The Innovation Team is searching for a Junior Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to collaborate with county departments and improve government services through data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will report to the Innovation Manager and will work closely with our Senior BI Architect. They will identify business needs, design solutions, and build reports and visualizations that generate new insights. Specifically, the Junior BI Analyst should expect to:
Support efforts implementing a data culture within the organization
Work with users and departments to understand their goals and gather requirements
Collaborate with senior BI staff to recommend solutions
Design, develop, and support Power BI visualizations by utilizing best practices
Publish Power BI reports and dashboards for sharing and collaboration
Use Power BI functions to work on different metrics and calculations
Conduct analyses that produce relevant insights about strategic and operations initiatives
Explore opportunities to implement emerging technologies such as AI and predictive analytics
Assist with special projects including, but not limited to:
Cybersecurity data
Motor Vehicle customer service data
Open Space operations data
Web Services data
Financial Transparency data
IT Service Desk data
Professional Development
The Jefferson County Innovation Fellowship program is designed to provide talented individuals with an opportunity to gain practical and diverse real-world experience in government innovation. Fellows will learn about the inner workings of county government and make a difference in the community through meaningful projects. Fellows will interact with senior leaders, attend high level meetings, and will be exposed to the responsibilities and challenges of multiple departments.
Additionally, Fellows can expect:

mentorship and coaching
expert led educational discussions
training on process and technology improvement tools and techniques

Target Hiring Range: $28.00 – $32.00 USD Hourly
This position operates on our four-day work week (Monday-Thursday). This position is hybrid, with in-office work as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Or an equivalency of education or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, computer science, or equivalent technical field
Experienced in Power BI, Excel, SQL, and data warehouse concepts, and programming languages such as Python
At least 1 year of professional-level work experience in an analytics-focused role such as report development, data science, business intelligence, or comparable data engineering
Certifications in business intelligence (or related) concepts and tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Creative problem-solving abilities
