We are seeking an Artificial Intelligence Software Developer for the Artificial Intelligence Group (RQC) in the Research & Exploratory Development Department. RQC is one of three groups in the Intelligent Systems Branch that work together on interdisciplinary research in Neuroscience, Robotics, and AI. You will be joining an innovative, dynamic group of scientists and engineers that are conducting pioneering research in AI and developing machine learning techniques to solve problems in areas like healthcare, space exploration, national security, and more. As a member of the team, you will be building software to enable advances in both basic research and applied areas.

As a Software Developer in the Artificial Intelligence Group…
- Your primary responsibility will be to contribute towards and/or lead teams in artificial intelligence, including (but not limited to) the development and testing of prototype software which implement state-of-the-art algorithms.
- You will design, develop, and deploy software solutions for a variety of exciting projects.
- You will document and present papers on current research and development activities at external venues.
- You will communicate often and effectively with team, sponsors and JHU/APL leadership by actively participating in the APL data science, analytics, and AI community.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you:
- Have a B.S. Degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent with at least 3+ years of professional experience.
- Possess excellent programming skills and fluency in Python.
- Have 1+ year of experience leading software teams.
- Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you:
- Have a Master’s Degree in a relevant scientific, mathematic, or engineering field.
- Have five or more years of demonstrated experience in software development.
- Have experience programming with common AI libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Pytorch, or OpenCV.
- Have experience with technical writing, including peer-reviewed scientific publications.
- Have experience developing software that integrates with sensors and/or devices.
- Have experience with web application tools and technologies.
- Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch or MongoDB.
