Overview
A critical priority for Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) is to ensure that high-quality data is available to run our business and meet our clients’ needs. The AWM Chief Data Office (CDO) was established in 2014 to define AWM’s data strategy and support for the core data used across AWM and needed to run our business, such as client data, reference data, product data, securities and pricing data, transactions and holdings, and index data. The AWM CDO is positioned in the AWM Operations division. We work with the AWM business and Firmwide CDO to analyze data, ensure data governance and data quality standards are in place, look for efficiencies in business processes, and work with our technology partners to implement these. This specific role is to work within the BAU (“Business as Usual”) team within CDO for Index process for our Index and Benchmarks Exchange (IBEX).
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the following activities
SME : Be a subject matter expert (SME), on all aspects of the index and benchmark process.
Business support: onboarding of new indices requires new license agreements. Validate licensing requirement and work with the vendor licensing team to define licenses. Check for license renewal and cancellations. All new benchmark onboarding or change should be validated to ensure it is as per the license agreements. Maintain relationship with all the vendors.
Benchmark additions and Changes : Work with Business groups and support functions to action and co-ordinate any new index requirements, Validating exact data requirements, liaising with Vendors, licensing and sourcing to confirm licensing status and get approval for any potential on boarding costs. Work with our aggregator Rimes to have index added to our standard index feeds.
Strategic System Interaction : Work with the strategic BA’s to ensure that any BAU issues and demands are captured in the system requirements for the strategic delivery of IBEX.
Benchmark onboarding: Responsible for index and benchmark data onboarding based on business requirements and ensuring data is licensed/available for the consumers. Liaise with Index Producers to obtain quotes for new indices and onboard them in our internal systems.
Exception Management and Consumer Support: Investigate and respond to queries raised by users across AM and WM related to index and benchmark data. Root cause analysis on benchmark issues through to resolution, including the implementation of controls where necessary. Work closely with relevant teams to get resolution for any index data issues.Liaise with Index Producers to validate or query data issues.
Build Efficiencies : continuously aim for cost saving by ensuring indices by reviewing the license usage. Adherence to benchmark regulations and policies and make relevant changes to procedures where required.

Qualifications
Industry Knowledge
- 4 or more years of experience in Finance, Consulting or Technology industries
- 2 or more years of experience with Asset and Wealth Management products and processes
- Detailed knowledge of instruments, indexes
Functional Skills
- Demonstrate a level of understanding of market reference data, and preferably a background within index processing
- Knowledge and practical understanding of Financial Services Industry businesses (i.e., wealth management, retail, wholesale well as operations and technology functions)
- Experience at using various market vendor terminals such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters, etc.
- Ideal candidate is likely to have previous experience either from Asset Management, Fund accounting, Hedge Funds or market data vendors.
- Good technical ability with core Microsoft products.
- Strong communications skills both written and verbal
- Experience in liaising pro-actively with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Fund Accountants, Index Vendors, and Operational support teams
- The individual will need to have a proactive approach and take ownership and responsibility for key tasks and issue resolution, with the ability to learn new processes quickly and execute them accurately. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and have confidence in interacting with senior management and business partners.
