Job Description

The Market Risk Basel Group is seeking an analyst or associate to support the MRBG Firmwide and Line-of-Business (LOB) teams on Market Risk Management VaR across asset classes including Equities, Credit, Securitized Products and Macro (Rates, FX, EM and Commodities). The individual will be aligned to an LOB covering NY EOD VaR as well as have Firmwide responsibilities and help support the Strategic infrastructure and Data Science initiatives to modernize E2E VaR. The successful candidate will need to effectively partner across Market Risk Management, Market Risk Technology, Quantitative Research, Data Science partner groups, and other functional teams to manage and implement strategic and tactical initiatives

Job Responsibilities

As a vital member of the Market Risk Organization, responsibilities & opportunities will include:

  • Working in a cutting edge Risk Organization, utilizing a wide variety of trading analysis tools to monitor risk exposures and understand the factors that drive the profits and loss affecting the trading portfolio.
  • Oversight of Risk Management VaR and regulatory Market Risk Capital measures including VaR, Stressed VaR, Stress based capital and other modeled and standardized capital measures, including FRTB
  • You will be following the global financial markets, focusing on price movements and events affecting the trading portfolio, with the goal of highlighting top risks with the trading business and the Market Risk management team.
  • You will develop a deep understanding of the wide-ranging suite of financial products traded by JP Morgan and the key risks associated with them.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Team player and future leader with exceptional drive, creativity and interpersonal skills
  • Lateral thinker, tenacious, commitment to getting things done and detail focused.
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadlines;
  • Good project management skills; ability to gain consensus among staff and drive initiatives to completion effectively;
  • Strong data science background a plus;
  • Experience with coding in Python/R is a plus
  • Strong process and control mindset a plus;
  • Experience in one or more asset classes in a Market Risk or similar capacity a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters/MBA a plus.
  • Strong interest in an intellectually stimulating career within the Finance Industry
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite along with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
