The organization closely examines the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle and diverse product scope of the investment bank to ensure the firm’s financial information is accurately depicted for reporting and regulation purposes. This financial information is used by analysts to assess the firm’s financial position; by management to make sound financial decisions; by investors to make informed decisions; and by regulators to supervise and examine the firm appropriately.
Finance Reference Data (FRD), within FAIR, is responsible for providing a wide range of Finance and Accounting services to Business and Finance clients globally. Services include managing all aspects of core Financial Data Dimensions including Legal Entity, Business Unit, GL Account, Product, and Data Source. The FRD team performs transaction processing for add/change/close requests, provides data content analysis & mapping support across all Lines of Business, supports cross-firm project efforts related to Business, Regulatory, and Conversion events, and engages in a variety of support activities (Re-engineering, Production Support, Process/Policy/Procedure Management, Metrics Reporting, Controls, and Service Support).
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Daily responsibilities include processing BAU requests i.e. Add/Modify/Purge and consistently maintain data integrity across these dimensions
- Monitor and review the major processes and procedures with a high impact in FRD to identify and escalate potential issues
- Independently assess when and what type of messaging is needed for issues, changes to the system, or other system details and craft communications to key parties
- Conduct significant data mining and analysis to support recommendations and necessary action items
- Partner with finance partners and technology to identify root cause and resolve issues
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for DQ discovery, profiling, and control solutions
- Analyzing the different datasets and performing complex comparisons
- Collaborate with other team members and peers to drive resolution of data quality and systemic issues
- Build strong partnerships across FAIR to support Data Quality efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree/MBA (Accounting or Finance) or equivalent experience
- 4 plus years professional experience with at least 1 year of related finance and accounting experience
- Knowledge of Reference Data is a plus and have strong analytical bent of mind and data mining skills
- Good understanding and knowledge on accounting principles
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Detail oriented and precise
- Must be able to effectively prioritize and multi task
- Proactive, independent and self-managing
