Asset Management India Client & Product teams cover functions that span across the entire lifecycle of a client. Starting with Sales & Marketing, the group includes functions like Sales support, Product Strategy, Market Insight, Data Management & Governance, Data Delivery & Solutions and Business Intelligence & Analytics. The Product teams, comprising of Research analysts, Investment Specialists (IS) and Portfolio Management teams are responsible for providing additional insights to our securities coverage universe, strategy design, commercializing and monetizing our strategies. The Client Service group caters to functions like RFP, Onboarding, KYC, Client Reporting and Fund level Governance oversight functions involving Product administration, Board management, Funds registration, TA Service Delivery, Product implementation and vendor management services.

The current opening is within Data Management and Governance team in India which forms part of the Marketing group within AM India Client and Product.

Data Management and Governance

Data Management & Governance (DMAG) team is part of AM’s Marketing – Data, Digital and Distribution organization. The core objective of the team is to ensure that the data across business & client platforms (CRM, Data Warehouse etc.) remains of good quality, strategic and keeps pace with an ever changing client and regulatory environment. DMAG team is focused on driving the data agenda, building on and supporting the overall CRM platform, Data Warehouses and data capabilities across the Client’s journeys. The team in India is responsible for supporting a diverse range of business process driving and supporting the data strategy roadmap across our Asset Management organization.

The role requires leading a team which engages, and works closely with the Distribution teams, and their partners (Client Service, Marketing, Product, Finance, Data Delivery/Business Intelligence and Technology).

About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and self driven candidates with a unique blend of leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills. In addition to functional responsibilities, the lead is expected to act as a key engagement point with global teams and oversee a highly motivated team for both qualitative and quantitative agenda of the group. The lead should develop in-depth subject matter expertise as well as guide the junior resources on the team with function/domain

In this role, you will be expected to apply your data management & governance background in order to make important contributions across a diverse array of projects and support functions. The role will require managing a team which is engaged in in-depth data engineering, data manipulation, exploration, and analysis on a day to day basis. The team is responsible for CRM end user support, data quality and controls on client data across life cycle. The team is also responsible to manage/drive global projects.

The lead is responsible to build a scalable and sustainable organization, manage controls agenda, and have defined engagement & governance model with key stakeholders, have identified metrics and performance parameters. Should drive collaborations/partnerships/team integrations with related functions/groups in the broader organization (India & Global)

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to build data as “asset” for the AM Client organization. Provide recommendations on data best practices, technologies, industry trends.
  • Understand current and future business needs, follow AM industry trends and innovations to proactively improve and maximize the value of the internal system/applications to be in line with the changing strategies and stakeholder requirements
  • Focus on building and driving strong stakeholder engagement across business functions, technology partners and extended global teams to provide relevant data solutions
  • Drive the team to strategically achieve highest levels of data modernization and integrity across client journey by deploying right governance and design strategy on client data
  • Create and enforce policies with regards to data acquisition, rationalization, maintenance and modifications for internal and external data sources. Plan, exercise oversight, and control over management and use of data and data-related sources/applications (like CRM system, data warehouse capabilities and other client data applications)
  • CRM Support:

    • Engage closely with leadership/business and relevant Product Owners to build/support the end-to-end design, roadmap, implementation plan and adoption strategy.
    • Provide ongoing business support (data management, security and compliance) to the users of Asset Management CRM platform. Improve experience and adoption of CRM system – aim to simplify processes, maximize efficiency and provide necessary functionalities
    • Planning, delivery governance, resource optimization, stakeholder engagement/training, monitoring of critical issues/risks across platform and identify/execute improvement programs
  • Data Management:

    • Responsible for data management activities like Trade Transparency / Attributions, company/contact/marketing data management, global data maintenance and migration initiatives
  • Funds Data Warehouse Support:

    • Strong knowledge of data architectures, ability to understand data flows and implement effective data management techniques
    • Oversee conceptual, logical and physical data models that conform to standards and conventions.
    • Performing root cause analysis, data wrangling, UATs, data ingestions, monitoring/reconciling data feeds from various sources and ensuring implementation of controls/governance in smooth transition over into the systems
  • Data Stewardship:

    • Support strong data governance and management to ensure compliance with data standards and a single client view is maintained. Develop consistent data definitions, data owners, define data ‘golden sources’ and created standardization
    • Design and own process improvements for data quality analysis, auditing, tracking, cleansing, and escalation to ensure high quality data within various systems
  • Strategic Initiatives:

    • Provide deep knowledge of applications / data warehouse functionality and requirements. Ideate, initiate and lead various global strategic projects and business process engineering initiatives – Apply critical thinking to understand processes / workflows / integrations, troubleshoot issues, proactively identify gaps and develop ideas / innovations that will add value to the business and team
    • Act as the interface to technical teams, follow development (BRDs, design, build, test and implementation phases) and align with other product owners on priorities
    • Ability to work in an agile environment and should be able to lead projects end to end. Provide / review JIRA boards, user stories, participate across SCRUM ceremonies efficiently, drive workshops, planning and execution (timely quality deliverables and report project progress)

Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry experience and knowledge of sales process, MBA (Finance)/Engineering is a plus.
  • Strong academic background with established analytical, programming and technical skills (Certifications in CRM, Data Management/Analytics & Data warehouse domain is preferable)
  • Experience working with an industry recognized CRM platform (Salesforce.com is a plus)
  • Experience with databases and data analysis software – proficiency with SQL/Python/BO/Alteryx is a plus
  • Strong experience in key areas of data management including data architecture, engineering modeling, data quality, data security
  • Project Management Background, Product Owner Certifications and AGILE Certifications are preferable
  • Strong Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experienced people manager adept at working in matrix organization and managing dynamic high performance teams

Skills:

  • Understanding of Asset Management business (Investment Management, Mutual Funds, Managed Accounts, and/or Separate Accounts) preferable
  • A passion for technology, financial services and asset management
  • Ability to build and drive high performing motivated teams
  • Self-motivated, team leader with a strong work ethic
  • Demonstrable professional user story writing expertise and presentation/story telling skills
  • Ability to explain complex ideas and methods to business partners is essential
