Data Engineer
55ip’s Head of Quantitative Research & Development is looking for a data engineer to take part in building its research data platform. The ideal candidate has a background in implementing effective large-scale data solutions. The candidate will be motivated, a problem solver, a team player, and an effective engineer, looking to make a significant impact.
Responsibilities
- Build high-performance cloud-based data solutions to support research capabilities: back testing, simulations, machine learning, and other advanced analytics & algorithms.
- Implement, schedule, and oversee ETL & monitoring processes.
- Examine execution plans and performance tune queries.
- Oversee the loading of data from vendor and internal databases.
- Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.
- Collaborate with technical teams.
- Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
- Offer support by responding to system problems in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or similar.
- Experience with database technologies, architecture, performance tuning, and scaling.
- In-depth experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Experience implementing and monitoring ETL processes.
- Experience in database design and modeling.
- Experience working with cloud services such as AWS.
- Experience with Python.
- Experience working with investment data is a big plus.
- Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, and similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of scheduling systems such as Jenkins.
- Knowledge of Linux is a plus.
- Knowledge of NoSQL and RDBMS databases including Redis and MongoDB is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
