Position Overview

We are looking for a Vice-President, Customer Analytics for our Small Business Banking Decision Sciences team.

The Decision Sciences team has three missions:

  • Solving key strategic issues that require analytical approaches
  • Bring the power of data to every decision-maker in the organization
  • Identify and promote data assets and algorithms that can change the game.

They will work hand-in-hand with the Finance and Strategy departments, helping them address issues that require advanced analytics and/or a (big) data-driven approach.

This role is a combination of consulting (problem-solving, ability to frame a problem and formulate hypothesis, interactions with senior stakeholders) and data science skills. The successful candidate will be strong in these two dimensions.


Responsibilities

Solve strategic issues using a scientific, data-driven approach, and using advanced analytical tools

  • Develop insights, methods or tools using various analytic methods such as causal-model approaches, predictive modeling, regressions, machine learning, time series analysis, etc.
  • Handle large amounts of data from multiple and disparate sources
  • Analyze the data and the results to ensure data quality, statistical relevance, etc. with a critical mindset and aware of the limitations of the tools used

Provide decision-makers (bankers to CEO to support functions) with actionable insights, and ensure buy-in

  • Work with stakeholders to establish hypothesis, design experiments to validate them
  • Design new tools for Decision-Makers, using our incredibly rich data assets, overlaying algorithms and designing clear interfaces
  • Communicate in a simple, conclusive manner, focusing on the key messages and impact
  • Ensure buy-in from key stakeholders and clients

Coach and develop your skills, build expertise within Chase Small Business Banking

  • Bring and build expertise in advanced analytics, Machine Learning, and Causal Thinking
  • Act as a SME in data science and analytics within Small Business Banking and beyond, create frameworks for common topics

Required Skills

  • PhD or MSc. in a scientific field (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years of advanced analytics experience in Financial Services
  • Knowledge of statistical software packages and data tools, including Python and SQL, ideally SAS and R
  • Knowledge of Advanced Statistical methods and concepts, predictive modeling, time series forecasting, text mining
  • Knowledge of Data Mining & Visualization (Tableau experienced preferred)
  • Experience / Understanding of Cloud Storage (Object Stores like S3, Blob; NoSQL like Columnar, Graph databases)
  • Comfortable communicating complex concepts into digestible information to be consumed by audiences of varying levels in the organization
  • Ability to transform information derived from data into actionable insights which directly relate to the organization’s key strategic objectives
  • Strong story telling capabilities
