Managed Accounts Portfolio Implementation

J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) is a leading asset manager for institutions, individuals and financial intermediaries, worldwide. Our investment professional are located around the world providing strategies that span the full spectrum of asset classes including equity, fixed income, cash liquidity, currency, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds and private equity.

Managed Accounts Portfolio Implementation (MAPI) provides portfolio implementation services for discretionary accounts both internally and at third party institutions focusing on rebalancing and risk management activities. The team supports Separately Managed Account and Unified Managed Account products from both Global Wealth and Global Investment Management.

Position Description

The team is currently seeking a Business Analyst to be part of the CWM Support Services Organization focused on Managed Account Operations future business state. The project analyst will provide support to the Project Manager, and Operations, on a variety of initiatives by analyzing existing processes, identifying process gaps, areas for improvement and developing the appropriate controls for each

Day to day, this Project Management component of this role includes chairing a number of forums that govern technology, process, and product changes within the team; running the controls agenda; and developing / owning SLAs and operating model documentation as required.

Responsibilities

  • Document, review, analyze and design/evaluate business processes, systems and user needs.
  • Work with business partners to ensure consistency in implementing change related to system, policy and procedural enhancements required to move to a yet determined future state.
  • Establish/Create/Analyze Reports relevant to Operations functions
  • Propose process reengineering solutions to resolve current process breaks and identify areas of opportunity for improvement
  • Display high level of communication/professionalism in leading groups and process improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours, including early morning, late evening and weekends to accommodate testing schedule requirements
  • Elicit project or initiative requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed
  • Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project manager(s)
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans, and assist with creation of processes and procedures
  • Strong analytical and time management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs

Qualifications:

  • Portfolio accounting systems experience preferred (Charles River, Fiserv/Checkfree APL)
  • Managed Account Experience – preferably MFA and SMA
  • End-to-end project management including scoping, business case development, implementation, and change management
  • Experience in business management including controls, regulations, MIS, and operations reporting
  • Strong analytical/writing skills, ability to quickly analyze information and creatively reach solutions
  • Proven ability as a self-starter, detail-oriented, well organized, strong decision-making skills and able to multi-task effectively
  • Ability to function productively in a fast paced changing environment
  • Ability to conceptualize and quickly understand new processes
  • Strong experience producing related documentation including status reports, detailed schedules (MS Project), polished presentations (PowerPoint), risk lists, action items and meeting minutes. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to take the lead in unstructured situations
  • Problem-Solving Skills: research, gather, arrange, compile, summarize and evaluate data in recommending solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft products including Project, Visio, Excel, Sharepoint, and Word

Education

  • Undergraduate degree a must
