JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation’s war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today’s missions and tomorrow’s global challenges.
RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job duties of an Operations/Test Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- Working under general technical guidance, specializing in voice communications switching, video, telemetry, situational awareness, data transport, and support systems within a real-time mission support environment.
- Perform network system administration tasks on work center systems such as communications distribution, data acquisition and distribution, range data transmission systems and associated ancillary equipment systems in accordance with standard industry practices, manufacturer data, applicable DoD policies, and local directives.
- Responsible for resolving real-time mission support anomalies, performing daily network monitoring, and provides the status of all work center networks.
- Implement and enforce new and update existing network system administration policies.
- Responsible for identifying network and system administration weaknesses and problem areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot data and telecommunication networks and equipment.
- Provide real-time operational mission support within the various sections of the work center, will be required to lead work center personnel in accomplishing real-time operational mission support, will maintain networking equipment to include problem isolation and repair to the lowest repairable unit level.
- Lead work center personnel in the performance of Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) activities on applicable networking equipment and will develop and maintain network PMI procedures as required.
- Subject matter expert at the completion of on-the-job training and will develop, modify, and review operating instructions for general network and system administration tasks within the work center.
- Implement and adhere to all Informational Assurance requirements.
- Interface directly with customers as needed and must be able to resolve simple to complex problems in a high-pressure real-time mission environment.
- Possesses knowledge of networking and data link protocols such as IP, Ethernet, Frame-Relay, SONET, and T1.
- Works independently or as a member of a team and have strong verbal and written communications skills and must be able to qualify and maintain government flight line privileges.
REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Completion of technical training and 4 years of related experience; or an Associate’s degree and 2 years of related experience or a related Bachelor’s degree (engineering, math, computer science, or physics).
In addition, the Ops/Test Analyst I must meet the following qualifications:
- The incumbent must understand concepts, principles, and practices of engineering and analysis to enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs.
- The position requires knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in technology to solve problems in the specialty area.
- The incumbent must maintain excellent communications and analytical skills and working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
- The incumbent must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance up to Top Secret with Special Access. Must be a U.S. citizen.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
