Job Description
Corporate FP&A acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support optimal business decision making. It is a key asset in the future growth of the company that brings perspective and relevant ideas about the world around us into our financial planning and analytical processes. The FP&A group is instrumental in shaping processes and activities to deliver high predictability of results in a timely, efficient, and orderly manner.
As a Senior Analyst – Corporate FP&A, you will be expected to provide effective finance business partnering support to finance and operational stakeholders and play a pivotal role in supporting the organization through providing accurate and insightful reporting and analysis to support key decisions. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Corporate FP&A and is based in Houston.
The duties of the role will include but not be limited to the following:
Position Responsibilities:
Internal management reporting and external reporting
- Evaluates and challenges financial results against forecasts and budget
- Develops financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
- Supports with in-depth and/or ad hoc analysis
- Supports in the development of external investor materials and presentations
Business partnership, collaboration, and delivery
- Develops relationships with finance and operational professionals across the organization to act as a trusted advisor
- Provides guidance, insights, and recommendations to improve business efficiency and performance
- Monitors business performance and KPIs
- Explains the why behind the what and breaks complex business issues into simple to understand presentations with recommended actions and implications
Process optimization
- Identifies and drives automation initiatives
- Designs and implements insightful and efficient reporting to drive better visibility of opportunities
- Designs and implements processes to drive consistency
Mentorship and development
- Actively coaches and develops FP&A team members
- Leads cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Prepares presentations and presents to the FP&A community and management
Market and industry research
- Maintains a strong understanding of external market fundamentals, including energy supply & demand outlook, consumer demand trends, regulatory changes, global economic conditions, government and defense budgets and trends, financial market trends and outlook;
- Delivers information to management to support decision making
- Tracks relevant peer/market comps to assess KBR performance and outlook
Qualifications:
Skills & abilities
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on large cross-functional projects
- Excellent project management skills; highly organized; drives projects to completion
- Ability to translate data and analysis into effective written and verbal communication at an executive level (Power BI and other visualization skills preferred)
- Fundamental ability to build and maintain relationships
- Highly driven and self-motivated
- Detail-oriented and able to perform in high-pressure environment
- Ability to lead and influence
- Able to shift activities, priorities, and approach based on changing demands
Financial and technical knowledge
- Strong knowledge of accounting required; CPA preferred
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong knowledge and understanding of planning and ERP systems and data preferred (Oracle EPM Cloud FCCS and Planning, CostPoint)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of government contracting is preferred
Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field
- 3+ years relevant experience in accounting, finance, or FP&A; public accounting experience preferred
