Data Scientist I
Overview
As a Data Scientist I, you will be a key player in KeyLogic’s innovation and growth efforts. You will be an integral member of multidisciplinary Agile data science teams supporting US national security and energy missions. You will apply your expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), statistics, mathematics, and data analytics to assess customer challenges, conduct exploratory data analysis, determine the optimal analytical approach, identify or develop appropriate algorithms and models, and output the results in formats and visualizations fitting the customer need. You will be a member of the KeyLogic Innovation Network and participate in open-source projects in the KeyLogic Innovation Lab. This is a Full-Time position with potential work locations across the United States, abroad, and remote.
Job Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively in fast-paced, Agile, mixed team environment with other data scientists, data engineers, software developers, interface designers, and geospatial experts to solve a broad array of data science and analytics challenges
- Provide team leadership and expertise in problem framing, experiment design, and solution implementation
- Work with both traditional data systems and modern CI/CD data pipelines to feature engineer and model complex problems
- Seek opportunities to enrich the initial data and visualize the results for an innovative solution that exceeds requirements and enhances the UX
- Support on premises and modern hybrid multicloud data architectures, including data warehouses, lakes and oceans
- Proactively identify and apply new emerging technologies and techniques
- Proactively tune data structures and models for performance and cost reasonableness
Required Skills
- Highly skilled data scientist with deep understanding and experience in selecting and applying AI techniques (e.g., machine and deep learning, natural language processing, optimization, speech, and image recognition)
- Highly skilled data scientist with deep understanding and experience in applying statistical (classical and Bayesian) and mathematical techniques
- Experience with commercial data analytics software (e.g., Tableau, Palantir, Excel)
- Strong data cleaning, processing, wrangling, and feature engineering skills in a hybrid multicloud environments
- Ability to work in and often lead an Agile DevSecOps team using tools like Jenkins-X, GitHub and BitBucket, and with collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, and Slack
- Ability to develop and deploy databases in various on-premises and public cloud environments, including virtual machines, microservices, Kubernetes containers, and serverless
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, SQL, NoSQL
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to identify and pursue opportunities for program innovation and growth
Additional Desirable Skills
As part of a multidisciplinary, cutting-edge team, any of the following optional experience is also viewed favorably:
- ModelOps
- Visualization and UX design and production
- Spark DataFrames
- Semantic Knowledge Graphs
- Business Process Model and Notation, Decision Model and Notation, and Resource Description Framework
- Programming languages and tools, such as Python, R, Javascript, Java, Ruby, PhP, Kubernetes, Docker, NodeJS, React, Vue
- Open source or proprietary geospatial software
- National security or energy experience
Education
BS in data science, mathematics, economics, computer science, or statistics,
or at least 2 years experience practicing data science or data analytics, required. Relevant certifications viewed favorably. MS or PhD in data science viewed very favorably. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Clearance Requirements
You do not need a current/active clearance to apply, but must be able to pass and hold a government Public Trust (SF-85) background investigation. You must either be a US Citizenship or Green Card Holder to be eligible.
