KPMG is currently seeking an Intern to join our Ignition Tax team.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Tax business teams and KPMG clients to identify business problems across a variety of industries and develop innovative, technology-driven approaches to solve these problems
- Develop specialization in Data Analytics, Data Modeling and Data Visualization to help KPMG Tax Ignition develop competency in these areas and leverage these technologies to implement solutions to business problems
- Help collect and extract complex datasets from various source systems and file types, load datasets into various data analysis software platforms and tools and perform cleaning, normalization, aggregating and combining of data sets into usable forms; test for accuracy and completeness, analyses data, visualize, report and communicate results
- Help prepare process/technical documentation and reports that effectively capture procedures, assumptions, conclusions and limitations
- Assist team with proof of concepts, hackathons and vendor product evaluations
- Work with clients and Tax business team members to gather requirements and deliverables, document project objectives and resolve project issues
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors; Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Accounting Information Systems, Business or Data Analytics, Information Science, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Actuarial or a related field
- Upon completion of this internship candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
- Basic knowledge of one or more digital technologies such as Excel, VBA, Excel PowerQuery/PowerPivot, Alteryx, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, R and Python
- Coursework or other experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle, supporting large data sets, including extraction from source systems, data cleansing and transformations and providing preliminary descriptive and advanced analytics findings to business challenges preferred
- Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude, critical thinking and problem solving skills and ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication, time management, quantitative and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high quality work
- Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future is preferred
