The Product Design and Modeling organization within Global Retail Markets is hiring an individual contributor for its Complex Components group. There are a near-infinite number of data products that have the potential to dramatically improve our pricing sophistication. One of those sources is competitor filings and this position will have a specific focus on extracting features from filings & testing those for predictive lift in US PL & US BL pricing models. In addition, this role will be involved in sifting through 3rd party data products in US PL, US BL, and in our East and West regions to find the best opportunities and, in turn, have a meaningful impact on the success of our company. The Individual Contributor role will be part of the Special Projects team within Complex Components reporting to the Special Projects manager.
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with highly talented professionals to develop creative solutions to complex problems, be comfortable with modeling and coding, and have an appreciation of what makes sense from a business standpoint. Solid technical and project management skills are critical to the role, and the individual we hire will work very closely with their team and other partners as we work to support our existing products and test and implement new ideas.
Responsibilities:
- Become an expert in Python programming through research and practice, unlocking the ability to quickly build automated processes
- Enhance modeling pipelines to reduce pain points and increase efficiency across the group
- Provide data-driven recommendations to inform product design decisions in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with analytical peers and counterparts to stay on top of business trends and analytical best practices
- Occasionally support the rest of Complex Components in building and implementing some of our core models
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a quantitative field
- 3-5+ years of relevant & progressively responsible experience
- Strong analytical skills with an interest in and openness to learning predictive modeling concepts and techniques
- Depth of experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
- Ability to think critically and challenge existing approaches
- Strong ability to focus on and execute projects
