About The Role

The Competitive Intelligence and Data Analytics group with LivaNova is seeking a data scientist intern to help the organization build analytical capabilities. Data science at LivaNova is applied to revenue-generating areas that have high impact and visibility across the organization, including but not limited to: markets and competitive analysis, commercial strategy, CRM efficiencies, and market access/reimbursement.

The primary focus for this role will be in applying data science techniques to improve the commercial and business insights. The intern will apply data cleaning, visualization, and statistical modeling approaches to a range of data from both internal and external sources. This person will be responsible for preparing and synthesizing data, analyzing and generating insights and solutions, and documenting / communicating their processes. In addition to the technical side of this work there will be an emphasis on data science communication to a range of audiences and stakeholders.

Prior internship projects include building statistical models to forecast patient implants, predicting opportunity conversion, and building / studying networks of physicians.

About You

  • A strong candidate does not necessarily need to have all of the following, and we encourage you to apply if you can bring other skills and perspectives to the table
  • An undergraduate or masters level understanding of mathematics, computer science, statistics, or machine learning
  • Experience applying various analytical and modeling approaches to real world problems and writing documentation and summary reports of your approaches and findings
  • Passion for data and for working through complex details of data collection, processing, and transformations
  • Practical understanding of how data is turned into insights that enable key business processes
  • Experience with data cleaning, data visualization, scientific writing, and data communication
  • An eagerness to learn the industry perspective, dive deep into the business context, and a drive to translate business needs into data
  • Creative problem-solving skills and openness to learn new approaches and technologies
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in any of the following relevant tools: R, Python, SQL

Travel Requirements

  • Limited Travel less than 10% may be required.

Time Frame

  • 12 weeks, flexible between the months of May and September

  • Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX or remote available
