JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Functional Title: Sustainability Analyst

2. Job Level: Analyst (JL2)

3. Reports to: Manager Sustainability & Supply Chain Development

4. Department/Division: Maersk Commercial

5. Location: Navi Mumbai (Airoli)

6. Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Carbon emission visibility and reporting support for customers including but not limited to:

– Completing End to End Carbon Reporting of multi-mode shipments for customers spread across different sectors

– Completing carbon emission calculations for tenders including providing distance information

– Keeping the calculation tools up to date with updated emission factors from Centre team

– Reporting on the completed tasks on monthly basis

– Emission reports for customers in absence of working tools (Ocean and SCM)

– Checking data quality of the reports, validating the emission numbers and providing analysis of the emissions to different customers about the carbon footprint

  • Consulting customers on optimizing carbon footprint by conducting sessions to help customer understand their carbon footprint and methodology used in calculating the emissions
  • Customer collateral preparation (presentations, Emission certificates, Partnership documents etc.)
  • Desktop research on customer sustainability profiles
  • Answering Sustainability related questions in Customer Tender process including topics beyond Carbon emissions e.g. health & safety, employee security , Cargo security ,human and labour rights, compliance
  • Be a primary point of contact to the BI team, Product team (CO2 tool) for developing new tools and products around sustainability
  • Helping customer to be on board for Maersk sustainability offerings.

7. Knowledge and Qualification Technical Skills

  • Bachelors degree (preferably in Environmental Science or related programs)
  • 0 – 2 years of experience in Analytics.
  • Hands on experience on MS office with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
  • Should be able to understand business logics and translate them into meaningful analysis
  • Basic knowledge of geography with interest in sustainability as an added advantage.

8. Learning Description: The key skills and competencies the incumbent should learn in this position:

  • Understands Maersks data structure and methodologies.
  • Work with leadership team and understand role of sustainability data in business decision by supporting reports.
  • Able to make well informed, effective decisions in an autonomous environment.
  • Able to communicate ideas and data both verbally and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner to all levels of the organization
  • Eagerness to learn and develop sustainability and commercial skills to be a true customer advisor on sustainability
  • Able to identify the critical issues of problems or opportunities using appropriate information and elevate issues according to their reach and severity.
