ManTech is seeking a self-motivated, flexible and forward-thinking Data Analyst (SAS)/Data Visualization Specialist to join our fast-paced and agile analytics team in support of epidemiological research and operational policy support program focused on improving warfighter readiness, optimizing recruitment and retention, and informing medical policies. This is a hybrid position located in Silver Spring, MD.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with a diverse team of epidemiologists, statisticians, physicians, data analysts, and military personnel to deliver knowledge products to multiple Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders.

  • Participate in data-related projects, including but not limited to, cleaning, transformation, standardization and normalization, maintenance, quality assurance and visualization

  • Apply statistical approaches, including modeling and business analyses, to create and advance knowledge products

  • Design and develop static and interactive data visualizations, including dashboards, presentations, infographics, and reports, with the purpose of understanding and drawing conclusions from data in support of data-to-decision knowledge products

  • Internally audit and document complex datasets using visualization techniques and tools

  • Translate analytic results into visual stories via text and graphics using appropriate data science techniques, statistical approaches, and visualization tools

  • Generate and maintain data documentation to include data dictionaries, metadata, and standard operating procedures

  • Review and maintain both internal and external documentation to understand appropriate use of raw and analytic datasets, as well as data flow to help make meaningful decisions of data

  • Integrate data from multiple sources and apply complex rules to create analytic data sets for epidemiologists, researchers, physicians, and other stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience

  • BA/BS in data science, data analytics, public health, business, or related field

  • Mid-level experience using SAS

  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting data, synthesizing complex information and transforming results into impactful and aesthetic visualizations using multiple tools, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Tableau

  • Strong analytic, critical thinking, and decision-making skills and can identify and solve issues independently – investigate and understand data issues and actively participate in course correction

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills needed to keep research team informed of progress, changes in status of work, and communicate findings to stakeholders

  • Expertise in data documentation ability, including creation/modification of data dictionaries, handling versioning and quality control of conflicting datasets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical operations exposure is valuable – including exposure to datasets from EHR/EMR systems and understanding and application of public health, epidemiology, and research principles

  • Experience in developing user-friendly resources and guides for interacting with dashboards/data visualizations and conducting data analysis activities

  • Prior service or thorough understanding of the U.S. military is a plus, particular experience with military health systems, data, or healthcare policies

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • This position requires US citizenship and the ability to attain and maintain a Public Trust

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in stationary position for up to 50% of the time

  • Must be able to move about inside the office or IT environment to access computer systems, modules, equipment and IT machinery

  • Must be able to constantly operate computers and other IT environment systems such as IT machinery, modules, etc.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • The person in this position must be able to detect, identify, observe, and assess written communications; presentations; and manuals
