Position Summary
This position will work closely with multiple business partners as well as IT peers to understand strategic business objectives and solve complex problems. The role will ensure solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with enterprise technologies. Responsibilities include resolving problems, delivering value-added enhancements, gathering and documenting business requirements, and the coordination of users testing. A successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and high work standards.
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Understand strategic business objectives and work with business partners to design/develop technology solutions to meet their requirements. Work directly with Business Partners to gather requirements and translate into functional specifications.
  • Support the IT environment by being responsible for 3rd party applications such as RightAngle. Maintain relationships with suppliers and 3rd party application providers.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple on-going efforts to ensure business satisfaction.
  • Lead analysis efforts to determine the impacts of changes to product lines such as Trading/Risk, Scheduling, and Back Office. Ensure those efforts adhere to all IT standards. Periodically review the applications and coordinate with audit during audit reviews.
  • Lead testing processes related to changes being made to RightAngle and associated applications to ensure a quality product is delivered. These would include functional unit testing and coordination of user acceptance testing.
  • Leverage existing business acumen to understand core business processes and desired outcomes specific to MPC.
  • Collaborate and lead by interacting with a diverse team of IT Developers, IT Architects, and other IT Business Analysts to ensure solutions are implemented in a manner consistent with MPC Agile processes.
  • Ensure the security and compliance requirements of applications and business areas. Utilize appropriate methods, controls, and documentation.
  • Clearly convey thoughts, ideas, specifications, and requirements with business partners and technical developers using appropriate means of communication.
  • Proactively monitor and communicate the status of incidents and outages. Analyze the data and trends to identify a root cause, recommend a solution, and then drive to resolution.
  • Stay current on technologies and business processes. Identify evolving business requirements, measure business processes and application performance, and recommend appropriate system alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems.
  • Understand the data and how the business processes function within the IT applications. Maintain a base understanding of interfacing applications.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and updates to application documentation.
  • Leverage industry experience to suggest business improvement opportunities and best practices.
  • Apply new information and concepts to accomplish tasks
  • Solve complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions; exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, related degree, or equivalent experience required.
  • In addition to education, the following experience is required:

    • 5 or more years of experience in an information technology role including a minimum of 4 years’ experience in business systems analysis.
    • A strong working knowledge of RightAngle software
  • Agile or Scaled Agile Framework experience is preferred.
  • Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
