In this exciting role you will provide product expertise in the area of security for all firmware and software development.
As a member of the Data & Informatics Innovations team, the Prinicipal Data Scientist will engage in statistical and exploratory analysis of datasets such as medical devices data (e.g. insulin pumps and glucose sensors) and smart wearable devices, alongside patient contextual data, and use the insights to build robust classification and prediction models geared toward diabetes management products using advanced artificial intelligence & machine learning algorithms.
The Principal Data Scientist will also play a role in advising and assisting strategic decision making by delving into new and existing data sources to define, monitor, and report on key product performance metrics, test and validate hypotheses, help prioritize product pipelines, and influence better product design decisions.
A Day in the Life
The Data Security Engineer is responsible for providing leadership in the development of secured products used in the medical field. Specific tasks include:
- Support data scientists and research engineers in statistical data analysis, pattern recognition, and data mining with machine learning and other data analysis techniques
- Contribute to development projects from investigation through productization
- Perform database queries, data discovery and support engineering analysis, design, and development of medical devices
- Work with business partners and customers to identify requirements, design and implement state-of-the art cloud-based data enabled solutions
- Develop automated data pipeline (ETL/ELT) in Dataiku & Python to support data acquisition to inference
- Provide production support for Data Warehouse issues such data load problems, transformation translation problems
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to build MLOps pipelines and architectures using cloud (AWS) and machine learning platforms (DataRobot, Dataiku, Databricks) to implement maturing research algorithms and demonstrate their capabilities toward production and deployment.
- Partner with software engineers and business managers to gather needs and communicate findings; apply data analysis results to aid product development decisions and clinical study designs; enhance data collection procedures to include data from various sources, including third party sources; author technical and scientific reports, abstracts, and manuscripts.
- Have a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and curiosity; work on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment; possess strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- In new product design roles: develops and programs integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze and leverage data in product and systems applications in both structured and unstructured environments.
- Develops and communicates descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms.
- In product/systems improvement projects: uses machine language and statistical modeling techniques such as decision trees, logistic regression, Bayesian analysis and others to develop and evaluate algorithms to improve product/system performance, quality, data management and accuracy.
- In both theoretical development environments and specific product design, implementation and improvement environments, uses current programming language and technologies to translate algorithms and technical specifications into code.
- Completes programming and implements efficiencies, performs testing and debugging.
- Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Applies deep learning technologies to give computers the capability to visualize, learn and respond to complex situations.
- Adapts machine learning to areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and other products that allow users to have an interactive experience.
- Can work with large scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems and modeling environments.
MUST HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Passion for creating data infrastructure technologies from scratch using the right tools for the job
- Passionate about data engineering, analytics, distributed systems and solving complex data problems.
- Experience in solving complex data processing and storage challenges through scalable, fault-tolerant architecture
- Experience in designing and building highly scalable and reliable data pipelines using BigData architecture (Dataiku, Python, Redshift/Snowflake)
- Software development experience with proficiency in Python and SQL
- Solid understanding of data transformation, translation of multivariate time series data generated from IOT devices
- Prior experience shipping scalable data solutions in the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and database technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, SQL/NoSQL and or columnar databases
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- B.E./B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in ECE/EEE or similar Engineering discipline.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
- Have actively working on Data Engineering needs for atleast 4-5 years.
- Individual with Embedded product development background, Overall 12+ years of experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Drafting and generating written documentation, e.g. specifications, engineering reports, validation plans, and validation reports.
- Experience in a regulated environment, ideally within medical devices
- Medical data analytics (examples include data discovery, pattern recognition, machine learning and data modeling algorithms)
- Experience developing clinical decision support algorithm using data driven informatics
