Milliman is looking for a Data Science Intern to join our modelling team and help build data-driven tools that provide insight to clients investing in the mortgage market. The Data Science Intern will join a growing team that maintains and develops algorithms to model borrower behavior.

The Role
Data Science Interns support initiatives primarily related to empirical model development, monitoring, maintenance, documentation, and governance of the models used in Milliman M-PIRe and consulting assignments. Specific areas of focus include, but are not limited to, modeling mortgage prepayments, mortgage interest rates, mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures, mortgage production and margins, as well as credit risk transfer valuations and stochastic valuation modeling. Milliman Data Scientists rely on a suite of modeling tools from econometrics to machine learning. Data Science Interns will work along Data Scientists that are responsible for designing and developing high quality modeling solutions from simple data analysis to deploying complex statistical techniques. All possible techniques are researched and evaluated as part of the role.
Job Responsibilities
- Participate in real-world business problems requiring data science solutions
- Document business requirements for data science projects
- Gather, clean, and validate mortgage data
- Perform exploratory analysis of data using visualizations and summary statistics
- Prepare reports of findings for review by Data Scientists and consultants
- Research and develop predictive models to solve healthcare analytics problems
Minimum Requirements
- Current college student pursuing a degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field is preferred
- Completion of one data science college course
- Knowledge of regression models

Compensation: $26 per hour. A housing stipend may be provided.
