JOB DESCRIPTION:
A leading client is seeking a Junior System Analyst with good communications, problem-solving and technical skills to help with day-to-day hardware repair tickets. Systems Operations / Administrators are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and ensuring the server fleet is operating at its maximum capacity. As a member of this dynamic team, you will be responsible for investigating repetitive tickets, parsing data and looking for information that will aid our software teams into implementing repair automation.
About the Team:
As part of a Systems Operations team, you will have the opportunity to work in one of our data centers, in Ashburn, VA or Phoenix, AZ or in one of our newly built offices in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, CA or even, remotely. The day-to-day activities will mostly be repetitive involving troubleshooting and resolving very similar issues. The right candidate will have the opportunity to learn on the job, working with hardware from vendors like, HPE, Dell, Quanta, Supermicro and many more, in addition to learning additional skills, for example, BASH and Python.
What Youโll Do:
- Managing your ticket queue, troubleshooting hardware failure issues, applying appropriate repair steps and validating hardware to send them back out to the production fleet
- Maintain and contribute technical documentation, troubleshooting manuals and run books to an internal wiki repository
- Review, learn and understand internal services and tools that apply to our IT workflows
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- BSBA Computer Science or 2-3 years of related skills
- Total 2-3 years of experience in a Linux shop and working on any vendor specific server hardware
- Jira and Service Now experience (can train)
- Familiar experience with hardware from vendors like, Dell, Quanta, HPE, Wiwynn and Supermicro
- Familiar with vendor utilities like HPs iLO, Dells iDRAC and AMBIOS BIOS interface
- Some Linux O/S experience
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computer Science, Computer Hardware Engineering education
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand hardware issues, hardware configurations and BIOS configurations
- Ability to take ownership of issues that arise from various hardware and software problems and follow them to resolution
