Data Center of Excellence
Data COE team is distributed globally between New York, London, Budapest, India, and Shanghai; and are engaged in a wide array of projects touching all business units (Institutional Securities, Investment Management, Wealth Management) and functions (e.g. Operations, Finance, Risk, Trading, Treasury, Resilience) across the Firm.
The team vision is a multi-year effort to simplify firm’s data architecture and business processes front-to-back with goals of reducing infrastructure and manpower costs, improving the ability to demonstrate control of data, empowering developers by providing consistent means of handling data, facilitate data-driven insights & decision making, and providing a platform to implement future change initiatives faster, cheaper and easier.

Job Profile
Role Summary:
The Data Center of Excellence department is recruiting for an enthusiastic, dynamic, hands-on and delivery focused Ontology & Knowledge Engineer.
As a member of our Software Development team, we look first and foremost for people who are passionate about solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. You’ll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner with stakeholders to stay focused on business goals. Responsibilities:Ontology and Knowledge Graph development
Participate in ontology creation, ontology management and semantic enrichment efforts
Promote the creation of semantic data models and SPARQL endpoints to link quality data
Participate in collaboration with the Firm’s Ontology and Semantic Modeling consortium to develop standards and best practices
Work to develop processes and procedures to integrate taxonomies and ontologies into the knowledge graph environment
Work on strategies to leverage ontologies to facilitate natural language processing including fact extraction, document classification and query processing.
Work with data analysts to design procedures to leverage knowledge graph data in a machine learning space
Devise and implement processes to validate data in a semantic context and develop metrics and procedures for assessing, managing and characterizing datasets.
Contribute to data architecture and data management strategy design
Collaborate with business and other technology teams to translate business requirements into innovative solutions implementing performant, scalable, resilient distributed applications
Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to align development priorities & planning with product and technology roadmap
Act as a thought leader in the technical space through researching and knowing industry trends as well as cutting edge tools and technologies

QUALIFICATIONS
Skill Set
Required Skills
Experience and expertise in W3C compliant semantic models (RDF, OWL and SPARQL)
Experience with relevant ontology development tools and industry standard knowledge graph database tooling
Demonstrable experience in developing mappings and transformation processes to take data from a relational paradigm into a knowledge environment.
4+ years’ experience building knowledge graph using Stardog, RDF and SPARQL
6+ years’ experience designing and implementing complex enterprise scale data & metadata architecture
Experience with both relational and graph-based databases & architectures
Experience with Graph Analytics & Inferencing
Experience solving business problems by combining Ontology modeling with natural language processing (NLP) as well as machine learning (ML) tools and techniques
Experience in creating data validation processes using SHACL, SPARQL or other rule languages
Strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with multiple Graph databases / ecosystems and understanding of pros & cons across them
Experience with Python or Java programming
Experience in Financial Services working with various front-to-back business functions like Sales and Trading, Operations, Finance etc. or in an Information Management framework.
