Title: Associate Software Engineer
The Group: The IWPT Data Platform team at Morningstar is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Software Engineer to join our team. As an Associate Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of our Datafeed applications built using Node.js and ASP.NET. These applications are essential for delivering timely and accurate data to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of their financial systems.
The Role: As an Associate Software Engineer, you will assist in developing, testing, and maintaining software applications. You will work closely with senior engineers, clients, and internal teams to enhance functionality, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the continuous improvement of our applications.
Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and maintenance of Datafeed applications using Node.js or ASP.NET.

Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Datafeed processing, data accuracy, and application functionality.

Implement enhancements to improve the reliability, performance, and usability of our applications.

Document development processes, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to ensure knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Work with QA teams to ensure software quality and reliability through testing and validation.
Requirements:
Technical Skills:
-
Basic proficiency in Node.js or ASP.NET for developing and maintaining software applications.

Understanding of application development and architecture.

Familiarity with data processing and data manipulation techniques.

Basic knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and queries.

Willingness to learn troubleshooting and debugging techniques.
Soft Skills:
-
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Some experience in software development, either through internships, academic projects, or personal projects.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Understanding of financial markets and Datafeeds.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
