Morrison Hershfield is actively seeking a Water Resources Engineer-In-Training for immediate employment in the Markham, ON office. The appropriately qualified applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting civil-environmental engineering projects in support of highway/roads, transit, stormwater management, municipal servicing, and hydrologic and hydraulic assessments for planning level and design assignments.
Job duties include:
- Complete of watershed and sub-watershed scale hydrology investigations and hydraulic assessments of riverine and urban drainage systems;
- Develop dual drainage models using InfoWorks;
- Assess rainfall and flow monitoring data to support urban system modelling;
- Assess inflow/infiltration in municipal drainage systems;
- Run, analyze, calibrate and modify hydraulic water distribution system models using InfoWater or WaterGems
Qualifications
- A degree in water resources, civil engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience
- A thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software (EPA/PC-SWMM, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks modeller, GIS) for use in completing engineering assignments. However, InfoWater would be an asset.
- Experience with urban drainage system modelling using dual drainage approach including model calibration
- Experience with hydraulic modelling of drinking water distribution networks including model calibration
- Experience with the design of stormwater management systems, culverts, bridges, and open channel systems
- Experience with the design of municipal infrastructure: storm, sanitary, pump stations, and watermain
- Strong communication, report writing, organization and interpersonal skills
- Experience with coding (e.g. Python, R, Visual Basic) is desirable
- Demonstrated experience with using Microstation, OpenRoads, and/or Civil 3D is desirable
- Demonstrated experience with surge control and hydraulic transient analysis for large scale systems is desirable
