The Business Intelligence (BI) Manager’s role is to coach, mentor, inspire, and develop a team of DBA’s, Data Analysts, and BI Developers. This includes providing clear expectations, support, training, fostering a learning environment, and partnering with their direct reports to create individual growth plans and yearly goals. The Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining tools and environments. Ensuring data from various systems/sources are readily available for use by the BI team and business users to deliver analytics and promote self-service. The Manager must proactively seek out opportunities to understand the needs of the organization and contribute forward-thinking ideas. Must provide solid (internal) customer service and embrace new technologies. The Manager will establish and maintain strong relationships with Mouser’s Business Managers, IS Managers, Directors, and Executives.


ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with team members and departments within the company to build new BI solutions and help solve business problems using analytics.
  • Support, deliver, and explain reporting across the business to inform users of how reports operate, what they are displaying, and what they mean.
  • Lead initiatives to aggregate data for visualizations and combine data from multiple sources to identify trends and create meaningful reporting.
  • Provide expert consulting on the best way to represent data to get data insights.
  • Navigates complex technical and business topics, has strong analytical problem-solving skills, and can be both strategic and detailed oriented.
  • Leads and contributes to solution design and implementation.
  • Desire and ability to stay current with industry trends, best practices, and tools.
  • Evaluates procedures and technologies utilized by the organization and develops standardized, repeatable, and efficient processes for analytics, reporting, data visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Ensures tools and servers used by the BI team are maintained and patched in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the overall health and performance of critical and secondary applications.
  • Evaluates the data architecture landscape and provide suggestions to scale for growth.
  • Ensures the protection of sensitive data assets including personal information and corporate metrics.
  • Prioritizes work and tasks for optimal coverage of operational issues including tickets, project work, and incident/on call coverage.
  • Available for providing after-hours/weekend/holiday production support when needed.
  • Creates an atmosphere of trust and seeks diverse views to encourage improvements and innovation; answering questions and providing direction to less-experienced staff; coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
  • Develops and maintains a productive work teams by hiring qualified personnel, training, and managing performance.
  • Manages teams with integrity, ethical business practices, and in accordance with Mouser policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent. Makes suggestions and recommendation for these employees regarding performance, including hiring, transfer, advancement, and termination.
  • Manages daily operations to meet department and company objectives.
  • Works with minimum supervision and makes independent judgments.
  • Flexible to meet the changing needs of the business and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments.
  • Initiates, establishes and maintains highly effective relationships with internal and external business contacts of various cultures, and at all levels.

  • Experience with analytical / data visualization software, such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, PowerBI.
  • In-depth understanding of database concepts and SQL.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science or related field. In lieu of a degree, 3 years as a Sr. Business Intelligence Developer or Analyst or a higher-level position. In addition to the above the following experience is required:
  • Internal candidates: Minimum 2 years as a highly performing Mouser Business Intelligence Team Lead/Supervisor or other equivalent management position.
  • External candidates: Minimum 3 years as a Business Intelligence supervisor or a higher-level management position.
