Senior Data Engineer / DBA – North American Integrated Analytics Team

As a Sr Data Engineer / DBA, you will support decision making, resolve issues and provide leadership in data management across our business.

Your job
- Work with business stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed and develop schedules and plans to ensure timely completion of projects
- Interpret business and data requirements to develop complete business solutions – includes data models (entity relationship diagrams, dimensional data models), business rules, data life cycle management, governance, metadata and reporting elements.
- Apply advance techniques to achieve concrete business goals; work with the business stakeholders to understand available resources and constraints around data (sources, integrity and definitions), processing platforms and security
- Provide technical expertise in recommending data integration and management solutions to a diverse group of data analysts and data scientists to develop industry leading analytics solutions
- Responsible for database modelling, design, Metadata and storage of data in the database.
- Implement data management standards and processes to ensure data security and compliance
- Create data pipeline using Apache Airflow for production deployment
- Managing access controls, setting up Users, Active Directories on database server for proper authentication
- Manage SQL database backup, restore and recoveries.
- Configuration of SQL Servers; Clustering, log shipping and mirroring.
- Design database tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, views
- Develop innovative solutions for batch and real-time data and analytics use cases
- Regular Interaction with Data Scientists, Business Analysts, BI Analysts, Data Engineers, understand and help them out in data management.
Your profile
First and foremost, the successful candidate will demonstrate a natural desire to provide exceptional client service through his/her energy, enthusiasm and initiative.
In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Microsoft Azure Architecture, Microsoft Azure Databases Administration, Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
- Exposure to other databases is a plus e., Oracle, DB2 etc.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Preferable to have experience working in insurance/reinsurance industry
- Preferable to have ML model execution experience with data bricks or snowflake
- Azure SQL DBA (Database administrators) experience with Azure Data Warehouse knowledge
- Must have knowledge of how-to set up Firewall IP (Internet Protocol) range on Azure
- Well versed with Azure SQL Administrative tasks Performance Tuning, Query Optimization using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler, and other related troubleshooting tools
- Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) is necessary
- Basic Knowledge of Azure DevOps, git hub repository, airflow, and other DevOps tools
- Knowledge of Indexes, index management, integrity checks and configuration
- Basic knowledge of python (pandas) is required
- SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) tool knowledge
- Working experience with Agile/SCRUM development process
- Knowledge of systems like: Kubernetes, Docker, Azure blob storage
- Knowledge about AWS, MongoDB, Graph or Snowflake is a bonus
