About the Role:

MVP is looking for a Data Science Intern to assist in the development and analysis of sport-specific data projects. These projects will derive from both social media and broadcast performance and be used in reporting, research and within our software platform. The Data Science Intern will work closely with the Data Science team to curate data and produce potential product features and insightful reports using our massive datasets spanning across all sports. This is a hands-on role that requires involvement from big picture strategy through planning, execution, and reporting. It requires strong analytical skills, creative thinking, and a passion for the ever-evolving sports sponsorship landscape.

This unpaid, spring internship entails approximately ten (10) hours of remote/virtual work per week from the time period of January to May 2023 during a student’s regular collegiate curriculum. Although MVPindex is officially located in Austin, TX, we will be considering remote candidates for our spring internship program.

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn standard methodologies for calculating sponsorship valuation, content metrics, and benchmarks
  • Curate, analyze, and report on content type, engagements, engagement rate, views, viewership, brand position, asset placement, sports statistics, and their potential interactions
  • Gain experience in building, managing, and optimizing data outputs
  • Collaborate with other data scientists to answer unique and insightful questions using our many data sources
  • Assist with data briefings
  • Provide ideas and feedback to help continuously improve our team’s processes
  • Research additional potential data sources and their interactions for future products

What We’d Like You To Have:

  • Must have completed a minimum of three (3) years of study with a focus on strategic marketing, statistics, data science, or other related fields. *Graduate candidate applications will be considered for detailed project work
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • R and/or Python experience
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in an autonomous, fast-paced environment with high expectations and short deadlines
  • Understanding of Sports Information and/or Sports Marketing and sponsorship preferred

It’s a Plus If You Have:

  • Understanding of digital technologies or social media management
  • An understanding of the media ratings world
  • Experience in sports marketing or information with a team or agency
