About the Graduate Development Program

National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is an in-depth training and development program for high achieving recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates are the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and enthusiasm to our team, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to make an impact from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 4-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position and take part ongoing development activities through your first year including monthly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid.


About the Position

As the Associate Analyst, you’ll support US Procurement’s process and performance improvement initiatives, enable team capabilities, and identify and promote data-driven innovation to deliver long-term value. You’ll also support sourcing efforts through data and analytics relative to team metrics, and market and supplier insight. This is a fantastic opportunity if you’re looking to work with and gain exposure to all category teams within US Procurement. You’ll get the chance to collaborate with different team members using research tools to assess supplier competitive environments, market risks, and opportunities to help identify potential new suppliers.


What You’ll Do

As the Associate Analyst, you’ll be responsible for projects varying from three functional focus areas: Category Management & Strategy Support, Procurement Process & Project Management, and Systems & Analytics.


Category Management and Strategy Support

  • Perform in-depth internal and external research, analysis, and summarization of regional, national, and global market and commodity short- and long-term trends


Procurement Process and Project Management

  • Evaluate and summarize data into quantifiable measurements/KPIs with corresponding trending, reporting, and deep dive root cause analysis
  • Leverage Process Excellence principles to ensure continuous improvement opportunities are identified
  • Lead project teams to drive improvement initiatives, prepare detailed plans, track project performance, mitigate risks and assure completion of deliverables


Systems and Analytics

  • Extract data and apply statistical methods to understand, measure, and provide insights about spending trends, supply base performance, and value opportunities
  • Develop new or improved database applications and tools for better data granularity, availability, and integrity


What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Management, or technical discipline required
  • Graduated between May 2022 and June 2023
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on May 30, 2023, or June 26, 2023
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)


It would be awesome if you had

  • Strong analytical skills and were able to draw conclusions and identify opportunities from disparate sources of data
  • Strong research, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Strong communication, engagement, and change management skills
  • Exposure to PowerBI, Tableau, or other database solutions
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience, especially in Microsoft Excel
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Sigma or other Performance Excellence/Continuous Improvement methodology tools

Salary

$58,650 – $69,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
