About the Graduate Development Program
National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is an in-depth training and development program for high achieving recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 4-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position and take part ongoing development activities through your first year including monthly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid.
About the Position
As an Associate Analyst, Grid Modernization, you will support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects that will help modernize National Grid’s electric system in New England, creating a network that can accommodate a rising number of distributed energy resources with increased levels of reliability and control. Working within the Grid Modernization Program Management Office, you will support project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, benefit tracking, risk management, quality review and change management. You will collaborate closely with Grid Modernization engineers and project managers to establish project objectives and then work cross-functionally within the broader organization to achieve those objectives.
What You’ll Do
You will:
- Learn and contribute to the development of Company grid modernization technologies such as distribution automation, digital substations, and operational telecommunication
- Assist in creating and maintaining executive-level status reporting encompassing project updates, ongoing cost analyses, significant issue management/resolution and benefit tracking
- Engage stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams including distribution engineering, system planning, substation engineering, telecommunications engineering, standards, system operations, field operations, IT, regulatory, legal, community relations, corporate strategy and other groups to ensure effective and efficient implementation of grid modernization projects
- Support structured risk and issues management planning, tracking, control and escalation/reporting
- Participate in Research and Development (R&D) opportunities including supporting pilot project execution and business case development
- Support regulatory tracking and reporting requirements associated with grid modernization programs, including reporting of metrics related to the achievement of project benefits
- Contribute to program change management needs including training development & delivery, internal stakeholder engagement, and communications
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in Business, Management, Data Science or STEM degree
- Graduated between May 2022 and June 2023
- Analytical skills with the ability to provide timely and accurate interpretation of analyses and clearly present key findings to various audiences
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program May 30, 2023 or June 26, 2023
- Valid US driver’s license
- Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
It Would Be Awesome If You Had
- Project Management, Program Management and/or Data Analysis experience
- Experience using PowerBI
Salary
$58,650 – $75,900 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
